Will ‘Jurassic Park’ Reopen For Business?

jurassic

It was recently announced to everyone’s immediate shock that Safety Not Guaranteed‘s Colin Trevorrow would be helming Jurassic Park IV for Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg.

Story details have yet to be confirmed, although it has been teased that the the film, in theaters June 13, 2014, could be about the government who has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes. Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver penned the screenplay.

While casting is deep underway, Trevorrow is off location scouting, while simultaneously teasing his Twitter followers. The above/below image was shared Thursday with the caption “Nublar,” better known as the island that John Hammond’s Jurassic Park is built on.

I’ve always wanted them to address Spielberg’s shot in the 1993 adaptation where Dennis Nedry drops his shaving cream container loaded with the DNA of all the dinosaurs. Could this be part of the military extraction, and how they obtain the necessary DNA to create uber-dinos?

What do you guys think?

I don’t know why people get hung up over the DNA in the shaving cream container. It was in a container.

They explain what happens to the container in that JP game that came out. As for the dinos carrying guns is the worst idea ever. I just hope for a good solid dino flick. People getting eating and thats about it :)

  • Skull-And-Crossbones

i certainly hope the whole “training the dinosaurs to use weapons” thing is a vicious lie. that is 1 step BELOW a syfy original movie in my opinion. there’s gotta be better ideas out there then that lol. i really don’t even see the shaving cream container thing as relevant because the dinosaurs are still alive on both islands. at least that’s the way the third one ended.

Returning to Nublar would be a nice nostalgia kick. Hopefully JP 4 is better than JP 3, which featured the weakest ending in the entire franchise, IMO.

Zombie-Killa not to mention JP3 had some of THE most god awful, annoying characters ever (Téa Leoni & Macy).

      • Zombie-Killa

So true, ESPECIALLY Leoni. She was beyond insufferable.

  • Aaron Emery

    Please no “uber-dinos”!
That plot is so unofficial and ludicrous that I doubt it could be true. I hope it’s not true. Please don’t let it be true.

    • ThunderDragoon

Yeah, I really wish Mr. D would stop putting that in the JP articles. That “plot” is about a decade old and was never confirmed by anybody. Don’t even know where it came from, but people still love to talk about it. Ugh.

  • djblack1313

i’m not a huge JP fan, i enjoy them but i’m not gaga over them. this pic actually has me excited for this upcoming movie!

A return to that island would be pretty awesome, but that cant be the right synopsis, right? It sounds really stupid.

  • dr.lamb

Good, but don’t the islands just look the same ?
Maybe the simplest and maybe most effective plot would be that they finally open the park for visitors. Something goes wrong, of course, and the dinosaurs run free. Like JP1, just with more possible victims and more creative ways to die. :)

    Just make a good movie.
