Psychic Chaos Ensues In Mark Hartley’s ‘Patrick’ Trailer!!

Thanks to Bloody reader ‘Fabien M.’ we now have the international sales trailer for Bankside Film’s Patrick remake, directed by Mark Hartley, and starring You’re Next‘s Sharni Vinson, Rachel Griffiths and Charles Dance.

After killing his mother and her lover some years before, Patrick is the comatose patient in room 15 of a remote, private psychiatric clinic run by the secretive Dr Roget who treats him as guinea pig in his bizarre studies of life and death. When Kathy, a nurse who has recently separated from her boyfriend, begins working at the clinic, she is instructed to care for him. She is disturbed by Roget’s treatment of him and somehow feels that Patrick is trying to make a connection with her. When Kathy realized that the lifeless murderer can communicate, she is shocked but compelled to prove her theory. Patrick has psychokinetic powers, which he uses to talk to Kathy by transferring his thoughts to her computer. As Patrick’s communication becomes stronger, strange and terrifying events begin to occur. Patrick has feelings for Kathy and his affection is about to manifest itself as a deadly, bloody obsession.

It’s got a nice Stephen King vibe to it, and looks fairly chaotic. I’m digging the footage, you guys?

I agree with the Stephen King vibe comment. I dunno, for some reason I was hoping for an modern take. And even though, Vinson’s earned her keep with “You’re Next” and is Australian, I still feel Jennifer Lawrence looks too similar to the original protagonist not to cast her.

Definitely chaotic and a retro flare to it. Doesn’t look like it’ll be profound, but a good fun throw back.

    this looks awesome!

It’s interesting to compare the trailers for the two versions. I find they made an odd choice to set this remake in such an isolated, Gothic building with dark corridors like it was a Hammer movie set. The original looked like an actual clinic. This new location is so unreal that it adds a layer of artifice. Most remakes update a film to modern times. It’s impossible to believe that such sophisticated experiments would be conducted in these conditions.

On the plus side, the actor playing Patrick in this remake is smoking hot and spends a lot of the movie shirtless which definitely makes it a must see for me.

I will see it. I agree I would rather have seen the setting in a modernized clinic but it still looks like a fun watch.
