After the “Kon-Tiki” directors fell off the Legendary project, Spectral, to focus their efforts on Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Legendary has acted fast in finding its replacement to helm its supernatural thriller with commercials director Nic Mathieu in talks to direct, reports Variety.
Ian Fried wrote the original draft of the pic with Jayson Rothwell doing the most recent rewrite. Described as a supernatural Black Hawk Down, here’s the plot, as revealed earlier, that they were hoping to keep hidden: “The project is centered on a modern-day, militaristic and gritty approach to fighting the supernatural. Sources say the pitch, which sold for six figures, has been described as a darker and more serious take on a Ghostbusters-like story, with a plot that revolves around a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan.”
Jillian Zaks and Alex Hedlund are overseeing the film for Legendary.
