Black Sabbath, the originators of heavy black metal, have made their new album 13 available for streaming via iTunes. Simply open up iTunes, go to the iTunes store, and click on the big Black Sabbath banner. Also, make sure to pre-order the album here.
Produced by Rick Rubin, 13 is the first Sabbath album since 1978’s Never Say Die 35 years ago to feature original singer Ozzy Osbourne. He is joined by original guitarist Tony Iommi and original bassist Geezer Butler. The group had a very public falling out with original drummer Bill Ward which included public letters and statements from both parties. Drummer Brad Wilk (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave) filled in for drum duties.
I’m listening to the album right now and loving it so far. It’s a throwback to a time when metal was sinister, heavy, and didn’t rely upon shredding or insanely fast rhythms to elicit head banging.
