Dark Horse continue to dominate the world of horror comics with a series of mind-blowing announcements at C2E2 this year. Last year, Dark Horse released an 11-issue adaptation of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s vampire trilogy “The Strain”, written by David Lapham with art by Mike Huddleston. Lapham and Huddleston stay true to the source material, while giving the series a very cinematic feel and a strong emphasis on character building. Together, they made “The Strain” one of the most intense horror books of the year that should be embraced by horror hounds everywhere. Dark Horse was kind enough to allow Bloody-Disgusting followers the chance to read “The Strain” #1 for free and catch up on this phenomenally gruesome series.
In the series, The Strain virus is uncovered when a Boeing 777 lands at JFK International Airport and goes dark on the runway, the Centers for Disease Control, fearing a terrorist attack, calls in Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team of expert biological-threat first responders. Goodweather uncovers a vampire epidemic that threatens to spread all over New York City and destroy mankind if something is not done to stop it. Goodweather quickly assembles a team to help him go head to head with the ancient evil responsible for the wave of bloodthirsty vamps, as he sets out to save the city and his family in the process.
