Nine Inch Nails Debut David Lynch-Directed Video For “Came Back Haunted”

Surreal, jarring, and definitely not for those prone to seizures, the new Nine Inch Nails music video for “Came Back Haunted” has been released. Directed by David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Lost Highway), the song comes from the band’s upcoming album Hesitation Marks, which comes out September 2nd via Columbia Records. You can watch the video below.

Personally, while I think it’s an okay video, I was expecting something more from a collaboration between Reznor and Lynch. It just doesn’t feel like the full potential of both artists was utilized here. Instead, there’s a whole boatload of shaky cam and images with graphics and effects over top. Definitely disappointing.

I find the song very blah. It’s still got the tinny post 2003 NIN sound, retreading the same lyrical themes Trent has been focused on for years. I’d like to see him team up with a new producer. Alan Moulder and Atticus Ross need a break. I would love to see him work with Flood again or someone new. The video is def not Lynch worthy.

Sadly, I am on your side. Was a big fan of Lynch and NIN. I actually preferred their “new careers” after “With Teeth” and “Inland Empire” as soundtrack composer and musician respectively. It was as if both of them found their mojo again after they tread the same ground for a little too long. I don’t like the idea that they are returning to their comfort zone again.

Agreed Nothing 333. Seems like a bunch of throwaway Lynch stuff that got cut from the short film box set.

    Really disappointed.
