Paramount Pictures and producer Blumhouse are finally seeing eye to eye in regards to the future of their Paranormal Activity franchise. Fans will get not one, but two films in 2014.

The Latino spin-off, previously titled OT: Oxnard Tapes, has been renamed to Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones and will premiere January 3, 2014. Christopher Landon directs with Richard Cabral, Carlos Pratts, and Eddie J. Fernandez all starring.

October 24, 2014 will see the release of the “official” sequel, Paranormal Activity 5, a year later than originally slated. No word on who will write or direct as this time, although Greg Plotkin was once the frontrunner to take the helm.

The below clip came post-credits of Paranormal 4 and sets up The Marked Ones

Damn, a full year + to the next Paranormal film???? Not really complaining, because 4 was shit, but hopefully this will give the Paranormal writers time to get their shit together. I know I sound whiny, but please, oh PLEASE stop with the boring security camera footage bullshit. I don’t need to know what’s going on in your empty pool or the empty kitchen at 3 o’clock in the fucking morning.

I’m actually more excited for Latino spin-off, because the post credits scene sets everything up nicely. Plus, it could give us a break from the boring monotony in the PA films.

Honestly dude, it’s part of the story. If every scene was just the characters nonstop, people would be bored and lose interest. part of the series mythology in setting up the terror is we experience everything in the setting. It’s one thing to experience what the characters see all the time, but to know that no where in their environment is truly safe adds to the feeling of dread. But I digress: This is VERY promising news. 2013 has already been a PHENOMENAL year for horror. Two confirmed films in a wildly popular franchise, one already starting off the 2014 year? That is terrific, looking forward to it.

I can understand, when you put it like that. I guess my complaints are more about the setup in how they show the security camera footage, more than what we actually see on the security cameras.

hell nah! fuck PA! zombie your right, enough with all the pool, room, garage etc bullshit. it drags the movie out longer than it needs to be and forces you to bare the horrible acting longer than you need to. it just makes you point out the flaws rather the be entertained or scared.

  • djblack1313

    gross.

    • Zombie-Killa

Lol. Simple, direct, and to the point. Good stuff, djblack.

      • djblack1313

        LOL. thanx, my friend. :)

        • WolfQueen

DJ, you and I seem to have the same taste in a lot of movies/shows (see your posts on IMDB from time-to-time). The “gross” comment was right on. Hahaha. I loved the first 2, after that, no thanks ;)

  • CaptainHowdee

Two Paranormal Activities? Are you fucking kidding me? This is why so many people hate the horror genre, I fucking swear.

    • Kwonkicker

Horror has been stronger than ever, what are you talking about? People talked the same bullshit when Saw was popular and came out every Halloween yet stalked out in droves to watch every release.

      • CaptainHowdee

Stronger than ever? Are you talking about popularity or quality? And Saw is ridiculous, too (not the original, but the 9,000 sequels it produced.)

  • ThunderDragoon

Cool. I have to admit that this franchise is a guilty pleasure of mine so I’ll be watching these. 1 and 2 were good, 3 and 4 were terrible. Hopefully these two can redeem the last ones.

  • ZedtheUndead

am I the only one that liked PA 4? hahaha, well I liked the ending mostly, when Alex is in the house and is confronted by “demon Katie” up till that sudden reveal of the mob of witches(I’m assuming they were supposed to be witches)was pretty intense, but that was about it for me

  • WolfQueen

Like I said the last time we had a PA thread: The writers have written themselves into such major holes that they have no idea how to get back on track with the original storylines from the first 3 movies. Good luck folks.

  • VictorCrowley

I would plant and harvest Demon Katie.

  • Ultrazilla

The third and fourth films had their moments, but damn they’ve gone down hill. Not to mention the plot holes. This series either needs to get back on track, or retire.

  • deediddy13

paranormal activity is dead! the fourth one is so bad i had to skip to the end just to be entertained. the acting was so bad, and its way to long till’ something happens. for number one its cool but for the fourth film its just annoying! we know the story so why put us to sleep for an hour plus before something happens. the problem with horror films today is they use found footage jump out the closet scares too much. when it was slashers and teen horror it was still fun to watch because each horror character had their own personality giving the film its own identity. now its just the same bullshit except the actors are just worse.
