It’s been years since director Paranormal Activity‘s Oren Peli directed his sophomore effort, Area 51, which stars Glenn Campbell, Sandra Staggs and Jennefer Ludwigsen.
The found-footage alien film, which follows the terror unleashed as reporters visit a secret base that houses extraterrestrials, has gone through various testings, and multiple reshoots. And there’s still no word on if it will ever be released. We refer to it as the “lost Blumhouse film” – which is becoming as secret as Area 51 itself.
During an interview for Jason Blum’s Insidious: Chapter 2, he opens up briefly to Wegotthiscovered about the delay, and why it’s taking so long.
“It exists! We made it! We’re futzing with the movie in post production,” he explains. “Paranormal Activity, remember, it was made about four years before it came out, so Oren [Peli] likes to tinker, and he’s still tinkering, but hopefully one day we’ll both see the finished version!”
According to Blum, Peli is still working on the movie, I guess? According to IMDB, the film will be released this November in Brazil, which means it has to be near-completed. Hopefully some new developments will be declassified in the coming months…
