In some crazy brief news, TVLine reports that “X-Files” fav Gillian Anderson, pictured below, will be back as Hannibal Lecter’s shrink in the first two episodes of Season 2. Eddie Izzard recently revealed his return. “Hannibal” will return in early 2014 with a 13-episode season that begins with Episode 2.01, “Kaiseki”.
In other news, Variety writes that the BBC has cancelled period crime series “Ripper Street,” which stars Matthew MacFadyen, due to poor ratings. The gritty detective drama, which airs on BBC America Stateside, has run for two seasons, but there will be no third season.
A BBC spokeswoman told the Daily Mirror: “We are very proud of ‘Ripper Street,’ which has enjoyed two highly ambitious series on BBC One. However, the second series didn’t bring the audience we hoped, and in order to make room for creative renewal and new ideas it won’t be returning.”
