Meet the ‘Paranormal Activity 5’ Family…

Our friends at Moviehole have unearthed a casting call for Paramount Pictures and Blumhouse’s Paranormal Activity 5, which reveal some details about the franchises newest family.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what they discovered:

-Ryan, Emily, their 6-year-old daughter Leila, and Mike, Ryan’s younger brother (essentially a less fitter, less funkier version of his brother) essentially.
-Ryan, 26-31, is described as a ‘big kid’, he’s a video-game designer who has relocated his family from New York to Pala Alto for a cushy gig at Rockstar Games.
-Though somewhat of a hippie (she’s into organic food, loves the arts and music, won’t let her daughter eat Gluten, and sports tattoos), Wife Emily is considerably more serious than her young husband – she’s constantly on the go, does Yoga, and though loving, has an air of maturity about her. Her sister died a year before.
-Their daughter Leila seems to be a mixture of both – a bit of a fearless, opinionated tomboy.

And it goes without saying, Ryan and Emily’s family quickly realizes something is not OK within their new house, explains the site.

In theaters October 24, the newest film will be directed by Greg Plotkin from a screenplay by Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark.

at this point id rather see ‘saw 8’ and sit through that. this series goes nowhere and they string the viewers along film to film tricking them into some katie cameo the last ten minutes of the movie. i’m sure this one will be the same old thing with some key point all of a sudden connecting katie and there not being any resolve.

Ehhh…Idk how I feel about this I liked the Marked Ones, at least I thought it was better than 4. It just seems at this point that they have so many things they could do with these films to make them better but just don’t. 4 was one that was very much like that and half of the stuff in the trailer wasn’t in the film and the ending just wasn’t right. I’m not sure what they are trying to do with the franchise…take V/H/S for example the first one was OK but the whole setup of the film just made it easy for them to take it and make V/H/S/2 so much better, which is what they did in my opinion, well it’s the same with these films except they aren’t taking anyone’s advice on how to make these films better and are sort of spitting out the same stuff over and over. I just think they could have gotten a lot more creative with these after 5 films and they need to either hand them over to someone who will do that for the 6th “#5” or just stop…

Who wants to see a family headed by two douchebag parents? Take this shit out of a house and do one final big budget film and end this stupid series.

i wish this had more to do with the marked ones.

  • …….wait. They just released a prequel, and NOW they’re starting another storyline with another family? But I guess we’ll get more run-around bullshit, when they explain the cliffhanger for PA 4 at the end of PA 5, and we’ll need PA 6 to explain the cliffhanger in PA 5.

And I guess you can throw more prequels in the mix somewhere. Hopefully, we’ll get the bottom of mysteries surrounding invisible demons, witch cults, and possessed houses in Paranormal Activity 12.

Marked Ones was a spin off, tying into the mythology already set up. It’s not a prequel, all the events of (technically by chronological order) 2, 1 and 4 have already occurred. If you watch close enough during Marked Ones you see mentions of the family’s deaths in PA4 (the news board clippings)

      • Ah, I see. For some reason I thought it was a prequel, because I remember hearing mentions of Katie and Kristi (unless I heard something wrong) in one of the trailers. So I thought The Marked Ones was a prequel to explain some kind of connection between the characters in this new film and Katie and Kristi.

They’re names are mentioned yeah and we see the larger connection to them as well as the story overall. I just hope this family doesn’t turn out to be douche haha.

          • Lulz. As far as annoying characters, I’ll be shocked if ANYONE tops the douchey boyfriend in PA 4, or Micha in the first film.

The unfortunate part is that given the character development/progress from the past films, this is literally going to be the most direct information we’ll get about who the people are.

Sadly, a mother who loves sports tattoos(wtf is a sports tattoo, exactly?)and making her kids eat gluten-free is so utterly irrelevant to anything that will happen in the film, that I wonder what they thought would grab the audience in excitement for more PA
