Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive, starring Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska, is easily one of my favorite films of the year. And with each passing day I find myself craving to see it more and more. In fact, I’m starting to think this could be my favorite genre film of 2014. It’s going to be tough to beat.
Open in theaters April 11, Sony Pictures Classics shared with us a massive image gallery, finally, to go along with the romantic poster. Don’t expect a blood bath; what you’ll see is more of a moody vampire film that I’d go as far as to call “hipster horror.” Still, it’s awesome.
“Set against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangier, an underground musician, deeply depressed by the direction of human activities, reunites with his resilient and enigmatic lover. Their love story has already endured several centuries at least, but their debauched idyll is soon disrupted by her wild and uncontrollable younger sister. Can these wise but fragile outsiders continue to survive as the modern world collapses around them?”
