‘Resident Evil 6′ Details Reveal Returning Cast!

re5 white room
The battle for the White House still in the works.

CCTV reports on an interview with Resident Evil franchise writer/director/producer Paul W.S. Anderson at the Beijing International Film Festival where he talked about the looming sixth Resident Evil adaptation.

I have to go home tomorrow for Rising Resident Evil,” he explained, further revealing a returning cast member, “That’s what I’m going to do. As you know, [Li] Bingbing is in the last movie and she will be there again…

We exclusively reported that the sixth film would be titled Resident Evil Rises, so I’m curious if this was lost in translation.

Anderson also says he believes 3D technology has now become the fabric, rather than just a special sauce, for a film. And, his next Resident Evil will “definitely be 3D”.

What we know about the “final” final in the new trilogy is Alice (Milla Jovovich) will battle the undead from the White House.

These movies are my guilty pleasure films. Just straight up fun, mindless, popcorn movies. However, Resident Evil Rises sounds like a stupid title, so hopefully they change that.

so milla running in slow motion… shoots at camera… in slow motion… zombie dogs in 3D… few more resurrected friends… few more jumping & shooting in slow motion… bring some random character from part one that died in part four… phhh, that was hard job but resident evil 6 script is done :) u can tell anderson he can contact me anytime…

    • huntermc

Don’t forget to insert another random character from the game into a minor role, just to keep some vague connection to the original franchise.

  • Krug09

    When will it end?

    • djblack1313

Krug, this is the last Anderson/Milla RE movie. so not long to go. :)

i DO like RES EVIL’s 1-4 and i consider myself a big RE movie fan. that being said, 3D has become a huge distraction for Anderson and not the enhancer he’d like to think it is. i like AFTERLIFE but barely. the 3D was i admit the best live action 3D i’ve ever seen but i really don’t care about that. i’d rather Anderson, who is already a terrible writer, focus on plot/storyline/character development/etc rather than what shot looks “awesome” in 3D. Retribution was one of the worst movies i’ve seen in a while. i hate saying that since i like the prior 4 films.

no offense to Bingbing (she did the best with what horrible script/direction she had to work with) but the news of her returning means nothing to me. Anderson better bring back Ali Larter’s & Wentworth Miller’s Claire & Chris respectively (their glaring omittance in part 5 with not even a mention of what happened to them is yet another example of how terrible Anderson is at “writing”).

even though i like parts 1-4 i’m glad this upcoming movie will be the last from Anderson (and Milla. i DO love Milla a lot though). i’m now in the camp with those who want a more faithful RE movie that is handled by someone more talented.

Completely agree with everything in this post.

        thanx Taboo! :)

    Dear Paul Anderson:

    Just Stop

    • Waveboy

How can he? he’s struck a gold mind. RE fans just can’t help it because of their RE fandom(such as myself) regardless of how bad these films will go and see them. But the millions of other non RE-fans who line up to the theatre might as well slap retard on their foreheads. Anderson needs to fire who ever is in charge of the fight choreography….Laughable string dangling Mila and her 1990′s Matrix ripping trype is just too much fail.

  • undertaker78

Cannot wait for the final entry. I’m a huge fan of all 5 movies but the first is still my favorite because it’s the one with the most horror elements.

  • Shit

I loved the first and second movies. Jill was the shit. But they kinda went all crazy, much like the games. Please base this more on survival and less on big guns and psychic powers. It’s the last one, go big or go home. Make the fans happy. I’ll go opening day…

  • JADAMA

The franchise needs a reboot badly. Honestly, I almost couldn’t finish the last film. I literally got bored with it fast. I think Anderson is making way too many tweaks that it no longer feels like something from Resident Evil. Even though I know he tries to change each film to match the feel of each new game but enough is enough. There’s more action than horror and that’s not what Resident Evil is all about. I’ll admit, I did enjoy the first three films but he lost it after that. When the time comes, a reboot would be wonderful. They should go back to Romero and go the direction of his original script which is a fun read.

JADAMA, if you notice, it’s when Anderson got a hard on for 3D that you started not liking these movies as much. Anderson & 3D make a bad combination. lol.

I really dig Anderson’s 3D. It’s coherent and literally eye popping. I am happy to pay for that :D rather than watch some post converted 3D film.

  • Saren Nevac

First movie was quite good, we all sighed in relief they seemed like they were in the right direction. Since then, total crap, just action for the sake of it and the zombies are there to be kicked. There is no threat from any of the enemies and the main threats are laughable. Those movies are so ridiculous that they are comedies. Please can someone reboot this series…..amazing that its directed by the guy that did Event Horizon, a movie with mood and dread.

  • http://doomas10 doomas10

I am up for it. I liked all RE films except part 2 – which had dreadful editing and pace. Anderson knows how to shoot an action sequence and has a keen eye on visuals. Mila gets my money!

  • YJPherng

I don’t think “Rising” is the new title, what he meant might be about rising the new movie.

  • Evan3

Hard to believe anyone wants more of this. But hey, people didn’t go to Oculus despite the fact that that movie was great, so what do I know?

  • ThunderDragoon

I love Bingbing so I’m happy she’s returning. These are also guilty pleasures of mine. Just mindless, fun action. I really hope they’re going to reboot this after this installment, though.

  • Brian Green

In the long list of things that will never happen, I would love to see an Alice vs Selene movie.

  • Walter Whities

i definitely don’t think guilty pleasure movies should come from a franchise that has a big fan base. he directed most RE films, AVP, and mortal kombat. there are SO many other directors that could have made better movies. i mean just the idea of gareth evans (the raid 1&2) directing a mortal kombat reboot seems so much more exciting that any part of that movie. we as fans deserve better

RE 1 – A decent standalone film with one hell of a atmospheric creepy score.
Appacalypse – Terrible fan service that felt like a giant Resident Evil cosplay party
Extinction – Mediocre Mad Max SCFI TV special
After Life – AWFUL, the worst in the series. They really dropped the ball
Retribution – get ready for more dated 1999 slo mo action sequences!

The last two were pure garbage, Appocalypse and extinction were lousy yet still managed to be entertaining and the original seems like a masterpiece compared to all of them.

Also, Jill was smoking out in Appocalypse, sorry mila….but you’ve been out classed. ;)
