AMC’s “The Walking Dead” spinoff, tentatively titled “Cobalt,” is getting behind the cameras both literally and figuratively.
While the AMC series, based on Robert Kirkman’s comic, is set in desolate Georgia, the planned spinoff will be heading to Los Angeles, California, writes TVLine.
“Almost from the beginning of ‘The Walking Dead’ on AMC, fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world,” said AMC President Charlie Collier back in September.
As previously reported, there’s buzz that the offshoot — penned by showrunner Dave Erickson and “TWD” creator Robert Kirkman — will be a prequel of sorts, one that would chronicle the early days of the epidemic and the effort to contain it.
The cast includes Cliff Curtis (Gang Related), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince‘s Tom Riddle) and Aussie actress Alycia Debnam Carey (McLeod’s “Daughters”).
Adam Davidson will direct the untitled “Walking Dead” spinoff, code name “Cobalt.”
Zombies invade Hollywood. Thoughts? I like the change of scenery In fact, I really hope that they drop the “apocalypse” garb and start raiding some of the celebs closets. Maybe Bill Murray will make an appearance? Lulz…
