After losing both Michael Keaton and JK Simmons, Universal and Legendary Pictures are moving on with Kong: Skull Island, their reintroduction to King Kong that’s set for discovery on March 10, 2017.

Brie Larson (Trainwreck, 21 Jump Street, Scott Pilgrim) is in talks to play the female lead in the film, says Deadline. She will join the great Tom Hiddleston, while the studios are courting Russell Crowe(!) to fill one of the vacant roles.

Legendary has Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein, and they are eyeing a production start of late year or early 2016.

Kong: Skull Island will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the iconic ape as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island.
