Alex Aja’s Becomes a ‘Sleepwalker’

Horns, Alex Aja

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen anything from French genre director Alex Aja, who is currently in post on his latest, The 9th Life of Louis Drax.

The filmmaker behind Haute Tension, The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors, Piranha 3D and Horns has lined up his next, Sleepwalker.

Sleepwalker, which involves a sleep lab study, is penned by Jonathan Hirschbein, who wrote the Matt Dillon and Willem Dafoe-led action/drama Bad Country and Jason Momoa’s directorial debut Road to Paloma.

Ian Bryce and Jason Blum are producing.

    Excellent.

I’d love something in the vibe of Haute Tension or The Hills Have Eyes, I like his last films but the dark and violent Aja is the best Aja we can get.

The Maniac remake that he wrote/produced certainly skewed towards his earlier work. It’s one of my favorite horror films in recent years.

Exactly. After mirrors and piranha I was getting nervous but after maniac I’m excited to see what he does next. Haute tension and hills are both outstanding horror films and I want to see him get back to that level again.

Even though i liked his movie HORNS i hope SLEEPWALKER is more like HIGH TENSION. Aja is one of my favorite directors so i’m hopeful this new movie is good (even though it’s impossible to tell if it’s even a horror movie going by that synopsis).

Didnt he just do ‘The pyramid’? That movie could have been so cool but they fucked it up with that cgi bullshit and made it unwatchable.

His producing partner, Gregory Levasseur, directed that one.
