Espectrostatic “Wrong Side of the Portal” Video Premiere [Exclusive]

Published

on

We’ve teamed up with self proclaimed doomwave artist Espectrostatic (aka Alex Cuervo) to bring you the music video premiere for “Wrong Side of the Portal”. The song comes from the 2013 self-titled album.

The video, directed by David Bessenhoffer, is a black-and-white mix of medieval, post-apocalpytic, and supernatural visuals, all set to a moody Carpenter-esque track, creating a video that is reminiscent of 2008’s Doomsday. You can see this exclusive video premiere below.

Cuervo will be making his debut live performance at the Frightening Ass Film Fest 5, which you can read more about here.

You can pick up your copy of Espectrostatic on CD/Vinyl via TroubleInMinds or digitally via Bandcamp.

Director David Bessenhoffer explains:

I’ve loved this record since Alex first gave it to me, and I knew I wanted to make something for it right away. This particular track sparked the most imagery for me (for a video), so I was really excited that he agreed to my pitch.

It was initially intended to be more post-apocalyptic in feel, but Alex and I modified the story to accommodate our resources and still have the game/portal concept. What I didn’t realize is how long it would take me to get a handle on the footage I’d shot – putting it all together and coming up with the right look was a huge challenge. This was also the first time I’d shot any kind of combat, on ground or horseback, so with a very limited crew and amount of shooting days (and patient but temperamental horse talent) I’m kind of amazed it all came together.

The real key to this whole thing is the charity haunted house that my wife and I used to volunteer for, Scare for A Cure. It’s through them I was I was fortunate enough to meet the actors in the video, who actually joust as a sport, so they had the horses, armor and weapons that would have been impossible to secure otherwise. I met our makeup artist, Robin McShaffry, through them, and we shot on some of their sets post-season. Not only do they raise money for breast cancer research, but they help me make stuff like this, so they are charitable in every sense of the word!

Daniel Roebuck has been cast as Santa Claus in Terrifier 3, Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report.

Writer-director Damien Leone is currently wrapping production on the highly-anticipated sequel, in which Art the Clown unleashes chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve.

“I’ve been holding this secret for a long time!” Roebuck tells Bloody Disgusting. “I’ve been really excited about it. I’m actually entering into the movies that I watch. It’s extraordinary. This is Terrifier bigger, badder, best.”

Roebuck appears in Terrifier 3 alongside returning cast members David Howard Thornton, Lauren LaVera, Samantha Scaffidi, Elliot Fullam, and AEW superstar Chris Jericho.
