There’s a monster loose on the streets of New York… Or is it just a killer cop out to punish the city that destroyed him?
Pre-production is currently underway on Manic Cop, the Nicolas Winding Refn-produced remake of William Lustig’s classic 1988 slasher that’s to be directed by John Hyams.
Hyams will be shooting his Maniac Cop, penned by Ed Brubaker, in spring of 2016 in New York City.
Lustig also produced.
“I’m a huge admirer of both producers and I’d been looking to do something that bridges the gap between action and horror like this,” explained Hyam, who directed both Universal Solider: Regeneration and Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, back in September. “The script is able to re-invent the original with the same mythology. We had thought about shooting in the fall, but we decided on the spring to give ourselves enough time to get the best cast and crew.”
