Travis Zariwny’s Cabin Fever is looking for love this February.

Bloody Disgusting has scored the first official image from IFC Midnight’s Cabin Fever, a remake of Eli Roth’s 2002 film of the same name, starring Gage Golightly, Matthew Daddario, Samuel Davis, Nadine Crocker, and Dustin Ingram.

In addition, I’ve been able to confirm a limited theatrical, VOD and Digital HD release on February 12, 2016. We’re working to confirm this, although we’re told this is correct.

“Cabin Fever follows a group of five college graduates who rent a cabin in the woods. Soon, all hell breaks loose, as the group falls victim to a flesh-eating virus that attracts the unwanted attention of the homicidal locals.

Travis Z’s take is from a screenplay by Eli Roth & Randy Pearlstein (based on a story by Roth).

“It was a great opportunity to recreate an iconic film for a new generation of horror fans,” said Travis Z when the acquisition was announced. “I am a die hard fan of horror films and the king of horror Eli Roth trusted me to re-imagine his film. I was not going to fail.”

Back in March Roth said he was “blown away” by the remake.

The film was produced by Evan Astrowsky, Christopher Lemole and Tim Zajaros, and was executive produced by Roth, Cassian Elwes, Jerry Fruchtman, Peter Fruchtman and Ike and Jaclyn Suri.

Am I really this old now?! Rhetorical question!

    • Robadude32

No not really but some of the so called film makers are and how frggin disappointing is this????? Doesn’t anyone bloody think anymore?????

    • sliceanddice

no – the idea is foolish. the fact that this remake its getting… ” a limited theatrical, VOD and Digital HD release on February 12, 2016″ says it all.

Did he really say Eli Roth is the king of horror?really pouring it on there thick aren’t we. Eli Roth is a hack as far as horror is concerned. Do I think Cabin Fever could use a remake.yes, but not because its iconic or it deserves a release to a new generation, but because the generation deserves a better product than we were left with in ours. Cabin fever could have been an interesting slow burn had it been handled with more care, but instead what we got was an abysmal Frankenstein monster.

Please tell me that stupid pancake stuff is gone this time around.

  • eli

Please no pancake kid, idiotic racial “jokes” or the character Eli Roth played. Actually, no attempts at comedy at all. Make it fast, ruthless & gross. Hopefully someone like Gary J. Tunnicliffe or Wayne Toth is doing the fx. If there’s any CGI, they’ve already failed.

    • Adam Clifton

Oh come on! I liked that scene in the store. ”Oh the gun? That there’s for the n%^$ers.” Then the epilogue scene where that pays off is funny as lol

      • eli

Eh. To me, his “comedy” is juvenile frat-boy humor. I don’t find it offensive, just eye-rollingly stupid. But he’s more successful than any of us, so what do I know.

        • sliceanddice

so few folks admit that he’s just shit.

Eli Roth…the ‘king of horror’?! This made me cringe pretty badly. Movies like Hostel 1 and 2 are fun to watch but far from masterpieces. Roth’s characters are soooo flat, it’s awkward hearing them talk (‘squirrels are gay…’). For Cabin Fever, I’d like a really tense atmosphere, and some believable, likable protagonists. Then it could live up to people’s expectations.

for as long as it drifts in plot 90% through the movie like last time and the pancakes kid XD

  • pablitonizer

I stopped reading at “an iconic film for a new generation of horror fans…”

  • Jon Lachonis

    King of Horror? Wtf?

    • sliceanddice

      someone call wes craven’s lawyer

  • It can’t possibly be worse than the original.

  • Vampire_Mistress

well after reading these comments, its seems I am the only one who liked Cabin Fever lol and I love Eli Roth….I look forward to all his movies

The first “Cabin Fever” was a fairly solid movie. It was goofy, was well shot, had an OK story …. I don’t think it’s a “classic”, though, and I am not sure what’s to be gained by remaking it this soon (except money).

  • Ermilo magana

    Too soon

  • sliceanddice

why the flying-fuck are they doing this?
