A few weeks ago, Behaviour Interactive announced their decision to take a break from their usual routine so they can get some blood on their hands with the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead By Daylight. The PC exclusive slasher game follows four teens as they try to keep a masked psychopath from ventilating their abdomens with something pointy.
If that sounds familiar, it’s because they’re joining Illfonic and Elastic Games — the makers of Friday the 13th: The Game and Last Year, respectively — in a race to bring the slasher genre to video games. Unlike those games, Dead By Daylight will sample other genres, including the supernatural.
Since Dead By Daylight was the last to be announced, it’s also the one we know the least about. It has already begun to distinguish itself from the competition by putting a greater emphasis on replayability, which will be aided by using procedurally generated environments and multiple killers, though only one can be active at a time.
