Watch ‘The Neon Demon’s’ Opening Credits + New Poster!

All flowing to the pulsing score by Cliff Martinez, the opening credits for Nicloas Winding Refn’s recently released The Neon Demon (read our review) are fluffy and classy with just the right amount of  depth to allude to an impending darkness.

The title sequence was created by United Kingdom’s All City Media in close collaboration with Nicolas Winding Refn and CGI artist Ben Ib.

Besides the film’s sumptuous title sequence, we also have the pleasure of debuting an official and previously unreleased poster for the film that’s gloriously surreal and odd. An real eyeopener.

  • Arguably the best part of the movie…. (that title sequence)

  • Creepshow

The poster should have stayed unreleased. It’s so unnecessary to show that.

I have never in my life seen a movie that had me so conflicted and yet fascinated at the same time lol. I left out of the theater disappointed and feeling like the movie was a dud…then I got home and kept thinking about it, got online and started reading theories, then felt the need to watch it again. The Neon Demon is a film that appears shallow and empty- but there’s a lot of substance beneath the surface of all the weird shit that’s happening on the screen. The film plays like a fever dream that represents the harsh reality of women seeking perfection. I read the original script and preferred it mainly because it fleshed out the characters and ideology behind the story much better- where as the finished film is something you’d have to ponder over more and that’s something the general public may not have time for.

Refn’s worst film. And I LOVE Bronson, Pusher, Drive, and especially Only God Forgives. What an empty film. I didn’t just ‘not get it.’ There was nothing to get. It had nothing to say, and what it said was pointless. It was the shallowest depth I’ve ever seen.

    • Khy

It had a lot to say. If you’ve never struggled with the pressures of beauty and self-esteem it may go over your head. But it definitely illustrates the struggles Hollywood and the world put on women today- albeit in a nightmare-esque fashion.

No joke my girlfriend is a model and she thought it sucked. It didn’t say anything that’s not been said better already.

“No joke my girlfriend is a model”

          Suuuurrrreeee

          • Creepshow

I’m a model too. I take selfies like a MoFo!

          • Khy

I was a Myspace model for 8 years! Try beating that.

CORRECTION – ‘If you’ve never struggled with the pressures of beauty and self-esteem’ it may be below you.

        • Khy

Yup, I’m quite sure you’ve never had to deal with the pressures of beauty haha. *Pats head*

          • PsychoMantis18

So you’re the empty young girl this film was made for!

          • Khy

Exactly. As empty as the dried up prune you call a brain. We’re two peas in a pod <3

          • PsychoMantis18

Dried prunes aren’t empty – they’re delicious. You must be refering to my penis.

    Adored this film.

    • Khy

It is indeed bewitching to behold.

      • Creepshow

I was gonna go see it again this weekend, but it already got yanked from the theater I saw it in last week. WTF?
But, I was the ONLY one in the theater. So as far as I know, The Neon Demon made $8 that day.

        • Khy

I saw it at 9am and was the only one. And yes, I know that raises the question- who in the hell watches a movie like this first thing In the morning? LMAO

          • Creepshow

            Us….that’s who!

          • Khy

Just checked- they yanked it outta mine too lol. They really didn’t give this movie any time. Good news is the deal with Amazon was to release it in theaters and then three months later- stream it on their site. Movie didn’t even survive two weeks- so maybe they’ll go ahead and put it up for streaming or release it on Bluray much sooner.

I don’t think this is a film that should’ve had a wide release any way- it’s a film most general audiences do not have time to truly decipher and fit together. Most people who saw the flashy and action oriented TV spots would only go in expecting a typical “Scary movie” and would leave out disappointed, understandably.

          • Creepshow

Well, I’m glad we got to see it in the (empty) theater. XD

  • PsychoMantis18

    That poster fucking sucks

  • Yakushiji Tenzen

yeah this might be the only Refn movie I don’t see. He needs to get the fuck out of the L.A. setting already. I’d like to see Mads star again like in Pusher II or Valhalla Rising.
