Fan Colorizes Universal Monsters Classics for These Amazing Images

Published

on

You’ve never seen your favorite monsters like this before.

Long before Freddy, Jason, and Michael slashed up the big screen, we had the Universal Monsters: a group of bad (but sometimes well-meaning) guys and gals that forever changed the face of the horror genre. Where would we be today if not for classic films like Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Wolf Man? It’s hard to say, but we sure wouldn’t want to imagine a world without them.

The Universal monster movies dominated the horror scene from the ’20s through the ’50s, and given the time in which they were made, most of that golden era output was of course released in black-and-white. But what if films like Bride of Frankenstein and The Invisible Man were filmed in color? Wouldn’t that be interesting?!

Enter Goatboy. Okay, so I have no idea what his real name is, but a fan who goes by the name Goatboy recently took it upon himself to meticulously colorize the most beloved monster movies in the Universal oeuvre, and the results are absolutely stunning. These images bring the classic monsters into the world of bright, vivid color, and we think you’re going to enjoy them.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”
