Second Season of Guillermo del Toro’s “Trollhunters” Coming to Netflix
Already binged all the episodes? Don’t worry. More are coming.
Taking to Twitter earlier today, visionary filmmaker/all-around awesome person Guillermo del Toro (@RealGDT) confirmed that a second season of his animated Netflix series “Trollhunters” is soon headed to the streaming service. The 26-episode first season, which was actually more like two seasons combined into one, hit Netflix late last year, and has proven to be a massive hit.
Most exciting of all, Del Toro also revealed that star Anton Yelchin, who tragically passed away last year, had already completed voice-work on the new episodes. He tweeted:
SEASON 2 of TROLLHUNTERS is confirmed! And we are able to preserve Anton’s voice work entirely! Anton’s work for TROLLHUNTERS was many episodes ahead of Season 1. A year ago we had already storyboarded Season 2. Anton recorded it all!
Del Toro added:
We have 52 episodes mapped for TROLLHUNTERS. We delivered 26 (two 13 episode seasons) in what we called Season 1. More to come!
In the series, “When ordinary teenager Jim Lake Jr. stumbles upon a mystical amulet on his way to school one morning, he inadvertently discovers an extraordinary secret civilization of mighty trolls beneath his small town of Arcadia. Suddenly destined to play a crucial role in an ancient battle of good and evil, Jim is determined to save the world – right after gym class.”

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
