‘Elvira: Mistress of the Dark’ Coming to Blu-ray in April; Full Details

We told you late last year that German company Cinespectral Films was working on the first-ever Blu-ray release of the 1988 film Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, which had a December 2016 release date at the time. Of course, that date came and went with no sign of the Blu-ray, but we come bearing good news today. We’ve just learned that it’s headed our way in April!

Entertainment Weekly reports that Elvira’s big screen debut will hit Blu-ray on April 24, 2017. The 3-disc collector’s edition set, limited to 3,000 copies, boasts a brand new 4K-to-2K scan from the original interpositive, with extras including an introduction by director James Signorelli, new documentary Too Macabre — The Making of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, three commentaries, a featurette on the film’s special effects team, three never-before-released behind-the-scenes clips, seven original storyboard sequences, trailers, the film’s script, and a stills gallery.

Three different packages with three different pieces of art will be up for grabs at a quantity of 1,000 apiece. The Digibook-style release will also come complete with a 60-page booklet about the film – 30-pages in English, and the other 30 in translated German. The book will feature never-before-seen production stills as well as international artwork.

Check out the Blu-ray release trailer below!

In Elvira: Mistress of the Dark:

When her great aunt dies, famous horror hostess Elvira heads for the uptight New England town Falwell to claim her inheritance of a haunted house, a witch’s cookbook and a punk rock poodle. But once the stuffy locals get an eyeful of the scream queen’s ample assets, all hell busts out and breaks loose. Can the Madonna of the Macabre find love with a studly cinema owner, avoid her creepy great uncle, titillate the town’s teens and become a Las Vegas dance sensation all without being burned alive at the stake?
