Blending a virtual reality experience with a roller coaster ride, SeaWorld Orlando just unveiled Kraken Unleashed, the park’s very first foray into the VR arena. Strapped into the coaster, riders are outfitted with special VR headsets, which transport them to an underwater, creature-filled world as they soar through the (actual) skies at speeds upwards of 65 miles-per-hour.
Orlando’s only floorless roller coaster, Kraken Unleashed is themed after a massive, mythological underwater beast unleashed from the depths of the sea. Riders’ feet dangle as they travel in open sided seats, riding on a pedestal above the track at highway speeds to heights of more than 150 feet.
The ride features custom digital overlay with uniquely designed virtual reality headsets, fully integrated both mechanically and electronically into the coaster train to deliver a new one-of-a-kind adventure.
The VR upgrade of SeaWorld’s Kraken ride was officially launched today. Check out the official trailer below, along with a POV ride-through courtesy of Orlando Informer!
