That Horrifying Clown Motel is Now Up for Sale

Afraid of clowns? You might want to avoid Nevada altogether.

Located in the small mining town of Tonopah, between Las Vegas and Reno, the Clown Motel has good rates, is pet friendly and offers free internet, but it’s not the amenities that have made it one of the most well-known roadside stops in America. Rather, it’s become a viral hit here on the internet because, well, it’s the scariest motel in America.

Not only is every single room clown-themed, but the lobby is also filled to the brim with creepy clown figures and trinkets. Worse yet, the infamous Clown Motel rests right alongside a cemetery filled with gold miners who died from a plague in the early 1900s.

It’s like From Dusk Till Dawn conspired with Stephen King’s IT to create a real life horror film,” RoadTrippers.com once perfectly described the creepiest motel in the world.

So why is the motel making headlines once again? Well, Las Vegas Now reports this week that the Clown Motel has been put up for sale by its owner, who’s looking to retire. Bob Perchetti opened the Clown Motel 20 years ago, and he’s ready to move on – we can only assume that the undead miners and creepy clowns finally drove him from the premises.

I’m going to go fishing.  I want to go enjoy myself,” said Perchetti. “It became a way of life with me. It’s funny you get attached to something. I haven’t gone so far as to start talking to them. Oh, I’m going to miss the clowns. I’m going to come back. I’m going to come back and visit my clowns.”

You can own the Clown Motel for just $900,000.

I could have sworn I’ve seen this place in a movie before.

It was featured in an episode of Ghost Adventures. That may be where you are thinking you saw it.
