Did You Catch This ‘Sleepwalkers’ Easter Egg in ‘IT’?

Everything is connected in the Stephen King Universe.

While this year’s The Dark Tower heavily played up the story’s connection to other King tales, loaded with direct references to everything from Cujo to The Shining, Andy Muschietti’s IT didn’t quite take the same approach.

But there was at least one fun King Easter egg that you might’ve missed…

As pointed out by my friend Michael Varrati on Twitter, the car that Henry Bowers and his gang drive around is the very same car that the cat-like Charles drives in Mick Garris and Stephen King’s 1992 film Sleepwalkers!

Both Henry Bowers and Charles Brady drive a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am – the exact same vehicle, right down to the “Martinique Blue” color!

Sadly, Pennywise never takes the form of a hairless cat creature in the new film.

There were two Sleepwalkers Easter eggs in the film. I think I saw some corn on the cob too. Such a shit movie, that doesn’t deserve a nod.

Would you say that this is a desperate attempt to connect the two properties, John?

Not at all, no. Just a fun little tribute.

*SPOILER* I thought the way ‘Bowers’ killed his father was pretty slick.

      That was clever

What happened to Belch and Darren? Did he kill them after he knifed his dad in the neck?

    • Necro

I was thinking about that earlier today, I mean I have no clue either. Maybe it’s something that they’re saving for chapter 2 in a flashback.

in the script he kills them but I am assuming it’ll be saved for a flashback for Chapter 2. Their deaths and all of Pennywise’s victims will be pinned on Henry which is how he gets admitted to the mental hospital.

    Grasping at straws here.

I felt like a million things were left out.. I felt like in the miniseries you felt closer to the kids and knew more about them. I felt i knew more about beverly than anyone else..i just loved the cast for the kids more in tv series.hopefully chapter 2 sheds more light on them
