Samantha Morton Heading To Space For Sci-Fi ‘Shining’-Esque ’7th Day’?
From Dino De Laurentiis Company and Storm Valley Entertainment, Bloody D landed some excluisve casting news for 7th Day, a new sci-fi thriller set to shoot later this year in Australia.
As previously reported, Shane Abbess is to direct from a screenplay by Ben Ripley which “concerns a voyage to establish a new colony in outer space.” It’s described as a sci-fi The Shining.
We’re being told that an offer has been made to Samantha Morton (John Carter) for the lead role of “Evelyn Poole,” a pilot that ends up being the strong female protagonist. We’ll let you know if she accepts. READ MORE
’7th Day’ Described as ‘The Shining’ in Space
Australian filmmaker Shane Abbess (Gabriel) will direct 7th Day, a sci-fi thriller that Source Code scribe Ben Ripley is writing for the Dino De Laurentiis Co.
The script, which concerns a voyage to establish a new colony in outer space, is based on an original story by Abbess and Ripley.
De Laurentiis described the story as The Shining on a spaceship.
Prexy of production Lorenzo De Maio will oversee the project for Dino De Laurentiis Co., which is still developing a reimagining of Barbarella, as well as remakes of Stephen King adaptations Firestarter and Maximum Overdrive.
Other projects include a supernatural thriller based on Richard Kadrey’s “Sandman Slim” series.
