'Loved Ones' Psycho Gives Birth to 'Abraham Lincoln'

Props to our good friends at Latino Review, who received a lot of sh*t when their breaking story was debunked. Only thing is, they were 50% right. The site had reported that Robin McLeavy (the psycho-chick in the Aussie horror The Loved Ones) would be starring as Mary Todd, Abe Lincoln’s love interest and eventual wife in Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 3D for Twentieth Century Fox.

McLeavy is now confirmed for a role, only she’ll be playing the role of Abraham Lincoln’s mother, “Nancy Hanks Lincoln.”

Spoiler Warning: The role is brief but sets the tone for the action, reports Deadline. It’s her death at the hands of a bloodsucker that hardens young Abe Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) into going to war against the growing scourge of vampires in the 1800s.

Fox will release in theaters on June 22, 2012.

NIN Frontman Trent Reznor to Score and Star in 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'!

I’m still feeling a bit weird saying it out loud: “Trent Reznor, Oscar winner.” The Nine Inch Nails frontman has come a long way since his bout with drugs, depression and writer’s block. A decade after the release of “The Fragile,” Reznor is married, has released a slew of new albums, alongside produced side-projects, and is now an Academy Award winner for his work on David Fincher’s The Social network. F*cking awesome if you’re a fan (which I am).

While I was hoping we’d one day get a new NIN album, Trent Reznor has stated he’s working on a full “How to Destroy Angels” album (thanks to Yoko), while he’s also committed to working with Fincher again on The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Add one more to the list as Reznor will reteam with Atticus Ross to orchestrate the score for Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, reports BadassDigest.

Even cooler is that the site claims Reznor will also “be appearing as the vampire who kills Lincoln’s mom, as well!”

In theaters June 22, the story revolves around the president’s quest to rid the world of vampires, presented as part of the conflict behind the Civil War.

Anthony Mackie Becomes 'Abraham Lincoln's Best Friend

Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, Million Dollar Baby) is in talks to star with Benjamin Walker in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for 20th Century Fox, reports Deadline. Mackie will play the role of Will, Lincoln’s best friend. The site claims the role is a good one as he gets to be in the center of the vampire slaying. Variety adds that Dominic Cooper (Hello Darkness) is in final negotiations to play “Henry”. Director Timur Bekmambetov is putting together a group of up and comers to headline the movie that arrives in theaters June 22, 2012.

Seth Grahame-Smith’s revision of a Jane Austen classic blew readers’ minds and became an instant national bestseller. Now, he tackles our greatest president… When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the “milk sickness.” Only later did he learn that his mother’s deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect a debt owed by Lincoln’s father. When Abe learned the truth, he vowed revenge and kept one passion hidden throughout his life: the brutal elimination of all vampires. His valiant, bloody fight against the undead was all but lost to history, until Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln. Using the journal as his guide, Seth reconstructs Lincoln’s life story and uncovers the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. You don’t know Abe. Honest.

Joaquin Phoenix to Play 'Abraham Lincoln's Mentor?

While he’s yet to sign the dotted line, Joaquin Phoenix (Signs, The Village) is the front-runner to play the mentor who teaches the 16th President how to kill bloodsuckers in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for 20th Century Fox. Deadline is told that it’s his if he wants it, so we’re basically waiting for Phoenix to make a decision.

He would join Benjamin Walker, who last Thursday was set to play the title character in the Timur Bekmambetov-directed adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel.

The story revolves around the president’s quest to rid the world of vampires, presented as part of the conflict behind the Civil War. It’s slated for release on June 22, 2012.

'Abraham Lincoln' Elected! Moretz for 'Hunger Games'?

Update: Variety confirmed that Benjamin Walker (pictured) has SIGNED ON to star as Abraham Lincoln.

With every website fighting to break exclusives, it has come down to reporting on “front-runners” – you know, people that are supposedly in the lead to win the titular role of a film. Even worse, some sites are now reporting an actor or actresses desire to play a certain role.

Sigh

Variety is reporting that Benjamin Walker has emerged as the front-runner signed on to play the 16th president in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 3D for 20th Century Fox. Seth Grahame-Smith, who penned the tome which inspired the film, will also write the script. Timur Bekmambetov will direct and co-produce with Tim Burton and Jim Lemley.

In theaters June 22,2012, the story revolves around the president’s quest to rid the world of vampires, presented as part of the conflict behind the Civil War.

In more laughable news (that I’d still enjoy were it to become a reality), Let Me In and Kick-Ass star Chloe Moretz tells the LA Times that she’d love to topline Lionsgate’s Battle Royale-esque The Hunger Games. “Yeah, I read all of the books…I’d die to play Katniss. It’s such a cool role.” Good luck with that.

Hunger Games, in theaters March 23, 2012, is a screen adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novels about a grim future where teenagers are forced to fight to the death in a televised contest.
