In 2005, Christopher Nolan took the Batman film franchise out of the depths of mediocrity, wiped away some of the lingering stains left by Poison Ivy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and hard nipple suits, and gave the Caped Crusader a gritty makeover. Three years later, when The Dark Knight came along, the memory of the campy, fun Batman that was the Pows! and Thwaps! of Adam West’s era had all but faded. Even though it doesn’t star the brooding anti-hero, Gotham City Impostors aims to take the series closer to its roots by giving us more zany gadgets, over-the-top action, and humor that made the Big Black Bat popular so many years ago.

I’m pretty excited about Gotham City Impostors. Something I really love about many games is when they have massive amounts of customization. And no I’m not talking about where I can mess around with the cheek bones on my face, or the distance my eyebrows are apart from each other. I just mean, let me change my hair color, dress myself up however I want, that kind of stuff.

Gotham City Impostors is a 1st person shooter, yes, and FPS, that is coming out on the PC, Playstation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade. You basically get to dress yourself up like either super heroes, or villains, and go to town on each other with tons of fun weaponry. Check out the excellent trailer below.

Gotham City Impostors was announced not too long ago, and in my head it was hard to picture what they were going for. But the video below shows off exactly what they’re going for. And it’s looking pretty awesome so far. Basically, it’s going to be a 1st person shooter (multiplayer slayer only).

“Gotham City Impostors blows apart expectations for superhero games with an exaggerated take on first person shooters, set in a part of the DC Universe players have never seen before,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Just announced from Warner Brothers and Monolith Productions is Gotham City Impostors. The most interesting part, is that it is going to be a first person shooter. The game will revolve around Gotham City as it is being fought over for control.
