Summit Entertainment releases All the Boys Love Mandy Lane and 50/50 director Jonathan Levine‘s Warm Bodies (check out Part One and Part Two of my set visit) tomorrow, February 1st (actually, it’s technically out at 10PM tonight if you’re so inclined).
I recently had a chance to catch up with Levine after seeing the film (which I really liked). We talked about his take on the zombie allegory, shooting an NC-17 level of gore for a PG-13 film and using horror as a forum to revisit the John Hughes template of emotions.
The film “is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.”
Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich and Analeigh Tipton all star. Head inside for the interview! READ MORE

Dark Shadows star Eva Green, pictured below, has also been cast as Ava Lord, the deadly muse Miller described as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares.” She replaces Angelina Jolie.

The Frank Miller/Robert Rodriguez-directed Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, just keeps on casting. And this time Rodriguez dropped the bomb that Bruce Willis is set to return to the franchise.

Academy Award nominee Josh Brolin (No Country For Old men, Gangster Squad) has been cast as “Dwight” in the Frank Miller/Robert Rodriguez-directed Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
Dwight is one of the favorite characters from Miller’s books and the 2005 film. In “A Dame To Kill For,” Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face. The “Dame”has yet to be cast.
He joins Joseph Gordon-Levitt, added yesterday to play the role of Johnny, alongside Christopher Meloni, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Jaime King, Rosario Dawson, Michael Madsen, Jessica Alba, Jamie Chung and Dennis Haysbert.

Surprise! Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper, 50/50) will be taking a lead role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Per Deadline he will “play the role of Johnny, a part that the filmmakers originally offered to Johnny Depp. He’s one of the core characters in overlapping story lines…” I kind of hope they change his name to “Joey” or something so we won’t always be reminded that he wasn’t the first choice for the part.

Rumors were spreading recently about JGL’s involvement in the upcoming Justice League film from Warner, but in a twist there are new reports that say Joseph Gordon-Levitt is on the shortlist to play Star-Lord, in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy film. Looper is centered on a group of killers who send bodies of their victims back in time.
Update: THR writes that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (pictured inside; Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) is in talks to play Seymour, the nerdy florist who is forced to feed the beast in order to keep his fame and popularity rising.
Variety “Glee” co-producer is in early negotiations to write a new version of Little Shop of Horrors for Warner Bros. and producer Marc Platt (Drive).
Roger Corman directed the original 1960 pic, while WB released Frank Oz’s incredible 1986 remake, which starred Rick Moranis, Steve Martin and Ellen Greene.
A versatile scribe who is active in film, TV, theater and comicbooks, Aguirre-Sacasa was recently hired by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire banner to adapt Megan Shepherd’s upcoming young adult novel “Madman’s Daughter.” He rewrote the book for the Broadway show “Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark” and has been widely credited with making the show a success. He also penned the script for MGM/Screen Gems’ remake of Carrie, based on the Stephen King novel.
While on the surface you may be grimacing, this is some great news for those who want to see another musical version of Audrey II. Getting someone involved in “Glee” is a no-brainer, but hopefully it won’t come off as staged and ridiculous as that over-hyped feel good series. READ MORE
As featured in our 2012 horror preview for Sony Pictures, we’ve just now landed the first ever look at Looper, a behind-the-scenes pic that features director Rian Johnson sitting in a time machine. Can you say “awesome”?
“‘Looper’ is a time-travel action thriller involves a killer (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who works for the mob of the future. He, along with other so-called Loopers, dispose of people that are sent from the future. When he recognizes one victim as his future self (Bruce Willis), he hesitates, letting the man escape.”

We’re being told that genre fav Noah Segan (Cabin Fever 2, Chain Letter, Undocumented, Deadgirl), along with Jeff Daniels has joined the high profile cast of Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood), Bruce Willis (The Sixth Sense), Emily Blunt (The Wolfman) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) in the very interesting sounding the time-travel thriller Looper. Rian Johnson (The Brothers Bloom, Brick) is directing from his own script. Looper is centered on a group of killers who send bodies of their victims back in time. An intriguing plot that has me asking 20 questions. Endgame is fully financing “Looper,” scheduled to begin production in Louisiana next year.
