In the Beginning, Three were Created…
Man made of Clay.
Angels made of Light.
And a Third…made of Fire.
From the beginning, stories of angels and men have captured our imaginations and have been etched into our history crossing all boundaries of culture, religion, and time. These two races have dominated the landscape of modern mythology for countless centuries, almost washing away the evidence that a third ever existed. This third race, born of smokeless fire, was called the jinn. Similar to humans in many ways, the jinn lived invisibly among us and only under dire or unusual circumstances were our paths ever meant to cross.
As humans became the dominant force on Earth, contact between man and jinn steadily decreased. .
Modern man has all but forgotten the jinn.
It is time for him to remember.
I’m still not exactly sure what Jinn is but, since Freestyle Releasing just picked it up, I’ll be able to figure out on the big screen! The film, from from Detroit-based Exxodus Pictures is described as a tension filled supernatural thriller. Written and directed by Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad it stars Ray Park (pictured above; Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace), Faran Tahir (Iron Man, Star Trek), William Atherton (Die Hard, Ghostbusters), Serinda Swan (A & E’s “Breakout Kings”), and Dominic Rains (Flight 93). Richard Mandell, Najam Syed and Shahid Syed executive produced the film for Exxodus.
“The story of Jinn involves ancient mythological creatures who have never been seen in U.S. cinemas before. The premise of the jinn concept, known to over 1 billion people around the world, involves supernatural entities and revolves around creation mythology: In the beginning, three were created; man made of clay; angels made of light; and a third…made of fire. They are powerful due to their existence in a parallel world, and also because they have free will and can be both good and evil.” Oh so that’s what it’s about! So simple!
A release date for the film will be announced in the forthcoming weeks.
