[Toy Fair '13] NECA Sneaks Looks At ‘Pacific Rim,’ ‘Carrie,’ ‘Aliens,’ ‘RoboCop,’ and ‘Predator’!

UPDATED WITH HI-RES IMAGES!

Even though NECA has yet to unveil all of their surprise announcements, the doors are officially open on the New York Toy Fair, and the toy company has already shared quite a few “first Looks.”

With new Prometheus figures to be unveiled in the next few days, the company has released prototypes of their new Aliens line, which includes Hudson, Hicks, and a slew of Aliens (such as the Xenomorph Warrior). There also appears to be an “Exploding Alien,” which is incredible.

They’ve also shared their Carrie figure, featuring a normal and varient version of Chloe Moretz as the title character, one of which is covered in pig’s blood. While the movie is in theaters this October, the toys will be in stores this August. A quick update also included a look at 3 Jaeger’s from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, in theaters this July.

Then there’s the reveal of a ED-209 (Enforcement Droid Series 209) from Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 RoboCop. Says wiki, the ED-209, created by Omni Consumer Products, serves as a heavily-armed obstacle and foil for the series’ titular character, as well as a source of comic relief due to its lack of intelligence and tendency towards clumsy malfunctions.

Lastly, for now, come a sneak peak at new Predator and Predators, as well as a major gift to fans collecting the toys. Says NECA, “The Predator Trophy Wall”(!) is “a reward for those who collected them all. If you got everything you have all the skulls except the BIG dino one.” The Predator line consists of two versions of Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dutch, as well as an invisible Predator.

More news and hi-res imagery coming in the next few days. READ MORE

[Toy Fair 2013] Meet The Latest Motley Crew Of “Presidential Monsters”

To commemorate “Presidents’ Day” 2013 later this month, noted toy company Heroes in Action Toys will unveil some of the newest entries in its wacky “Presidential Monsters” toy line during Toy Fair 2013 at the Javitz Convention Center (Feb. 10-13) in New York City. The “Presidential Monsters” toy line pays tribute, in “monstrous parody,” to many U.S. Presidents and other popular U.S. Government notables throughout the course of American history. Heroes in Action Toys will be exhibiting at Toy Fair: BOOTH # 5032.

Among the new action figures the company will unveil will be Hillary Clinton as “Hillvira – Secretary of Stake,” a female vampire. Another new action figure will be Sarah Palin as “Van Palin”—in a spoof on monster hunter “Van Helsing.”
Unsuccessful 2012 President hopeful Mitt Romney becomes “Romney, The Robot” – a classic sci-fi robot, and George Washington is portrayed as a Ghost with his “Spirit of ‘76” action figure toy. READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] Round-Up: ‘Left 4 Dead,’ ‘Ghostbusters,’ ‘Munsters’ & More!

[Toy Fair 12] Round Up: Left 4 Dead, Ghostbusters, Munsters & More!

With the New York Toy Fair winding down we’ve compiled a few random announcements that slipped through the cracks over the chaotic past few days.

First and foremost are the brand new Ghostbusters toys from Mattel. One such figure includes Dana (Sigourney Weaver) as “Zuul”! These are available exclusively (and incredibly overpriced) at Mattycollector.com.

NECA announced a summer release for “Smoker Zombie” and a May release for “Boomer Zombie” from their forthcoming “Left 4 Dead” figure line. You can check out images of both by reading on.

From Diamond Selects comes yet another line of Universal Monsters figures including The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Invisible Man, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Phantom of the Opera, Vincent Price(!) and more! The company is also releasing a line based on the popular TV series “The Munsters.”

Lastly, BigBangBow! has also released a few new looks at their “Dexter” toy line and their already released “Twilight Zone” dolls. READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] NECA Announces Reese, ‘Aliens’ & Colonial Marines

[Toy Fair 12] NECA Announces Reese, Aliens & Colonial Marines

In addition to making action figures based on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, NECA is heading into James Cameron territory as they announced at Toy Fair rights to a slew of new sci-fi horror toys.

First up, we’ll finally see a “Kyle Reese” (played by Michael Biehn) action figure based on the 1984 The Terminator.

NECA has also announced a new Aliens “Warrior” featuring more articulation and removable limbs.

Lastly, the toy company will release a line based on the forthcoming video game “Aliens: Colonial Marines”. In development by Gearbox Software, it is to be published by Sega for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360. The game is a first-person shooter based on the characters and creatures of the Alien franchise, particularly the film Aliens. It is slated for a fall 2012 release. READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] Meet NECA’s New ‘Jason Voorhees’ Figures!

[Toy Fair 12] Meet NECAs New Jason Voorhees Figures!

It was the end of Jason Voorhees, at least until Jason Lives. NECA has unveiled an incredible new Jason figure inspired by Friday the 13th IV: The Final Chapter. The toy features the infamous machete wound to the head, with machete, knife and axe accessories. Oh, and his mask comes off to displays the exact same wound in Jason’s ugly mug. Geek boner? Yes please. Now all we need is a little Tommy Jarvis accessory!

In addition, they’ve also revealed a Jason from Friday the 13th Part 3, which features good ol’ Jason donning his mask for the first time. It comes with a harpoon accessory (you can shoot it in your eye just like in 3-D!) and varient mask.

Check out both images below and tell us what you think! READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] NECA Round Up: ‘RoboCop,’ ‘Gremlins,’ ‘Resident Evil’ & ‘E.T.’

[Toy Fair 12] NECA Round Up: RoboCop, Gremlins, Resident Evil & E.T.

Rounding out the big reveals from the New York Toy Fair, NECA has gone hog wild with the franchises starting with the killer new E.T. line. There are a handful of versions, but unfortunately no Elliott to punch in the face.

NECA continues to dive deeper into their Gremlins line, which fills me with rage that I’m broke and don’t have a 30 room house to put all of these toys in. There’s a handful of new Mogwai toys, alongside new Gremlins such as the electric one and the one that looks like a green Jennifer Lopez. Hot!

Inside you’ll also find screens of a battle damaged RoboCop and “Vector” from Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and a trio of toys based on Lionsgate’s forthcoming The Hunger Games (because there’s nothing cooler than toys of faceless actors doning stupid weapons from the future). READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] Even More ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ Figures From NECA!

[Toy Fair 12] Even More A Nightmare On Elm Street Figures From NECA!

I’m all over the place when it comes to NECA’s A Nightmare on Elm Street action figure line. I can’t recall what they’ve announced and what’s new, which is amazing because it means there are so many that I’ve lost count. A Nightmare-ish wet dream if you will?

I know for sure that we’ve already reported on the classic Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy with outstretched arms, regular arms, removable hat and interchangeable heads (classic and skinned face with exposed skull), Freddy’s Revenge Freddy with bladed finger nails, removable hat and interchangeable heads (regular and screaming face), the Dream Warriors Freddy with ripped sweater revealing Freddy’s victims, Elm Street house accessory and interchangeable heads (grimacing expression and crucifix damaged screaming face with a port hole that light can shine through), and the Dream Master Freddy with chest bursting with souls. WEW.

But wait, there’s MORE…

There’s a NEW A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors Freddy that features Freddy with needles to pump Taryn White full of juice, and the illustrious Freddy puppet. Then there’s the new A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child Freddy with elongated demon arm, an interchangeable head and BABY Freddy!

NECA is also working on a life-sized puppet from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. AWESOME. There’s also word of a new Freddy vs Jason line, but I don’t see any images just yet. We’ll update if they appear. READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] Ash Gets His Chainsaw In ‘Evil Dead 2′ Prototype

[Toy Fair 12] Ash Gets His Chainsaw In Evil Dead 2 Prototype

While you’ve already seen Deadite Ash and Shotgun Ash from NECA’s Evil Dead 2 line about 100 times over now (it should be in stores any day now), the toy company has revealed a new look at Henrietta and a prototype of Evil Dead 2 Chainsaw Ash.

Henrietta comes with interchangeable demon head (perfect to lop off), while Chainsaw Ash comes with a laughing deer head accessory. You can read about the first two Ash figures in our previous story from December. There are so many other characters that can easily make the cut; I’d love to see Henrietta in the cellar as a box set. READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] Part One: NECA Nabs ‘Prometheus’ Rights, ‘Walking Dead’ Season Two Comes In Zombie Head!

[Toy Fair 12] Part One: NECA Nabs Prometheus Rights, Walking Dead Season Two Comes In Zombie Head!

While it’s still unclear if NECA has anything new to show on the convention floor (other than a ginormous Ivan Drago prototype that I’d kill for), the toy company continues to work its way deep into our hearts with the announcement that they’ll be releasing action figures based on Ridley Scott’s forthcoming Prometheus, the prequel to Alien arriving in theaters June 8. It’ll be nice to venture out of the gross AvP territory that was milked to death — and it’s about timer we’ll be able to get our hands on a Space Jockey (and to think, they should be sized correctly). They also revealed that they’ve extended licenses for classic Alien and Predators, so clear more shelf room (this means it’s time to sell those stupid McFarlane Toys airy Tale figures, hear me?)

Anchor Bay is using Toy Fair to announce the second season of “The Walking Dead” for Blu-ray. The season comes featuring an exclusive zombie statue case created by McFarlane Toys, says MTV, who also p[provided a first look inside. Based on an actual television zombie bust designed by Emmy Award-winning Special Effects Make-up Supervisor and Co-Executive Producer, Greg Nicotero and KNB EFX Group. No release or extras have been announced yet.

In addition, Diamond Select Toys has joined forces with Robert Kirkman to produce a new line of Minimates based on his “The Walking Dead” comic book series. Check out a promo images inside.

From EMCE Toys comes the above “Working Stiffs” bobbleheads, along with the below pictured “A Very Scary Christmas” caroling cadavers snowglobe. They’re also producing a line of cute plush dolls called “Shock Puppets” by artist Ophelia von Gray. Get more on their Facebook page. READ MORE

Toy Fair ’11: Mattel’s Newest ‘Ghostbusters’, Louis Tully!

It really bums me out that I just turned 30. What I would have done for the respect of toy companies when I was 6. I literally have no space for all of this awesomeness, and my imagination has taken a turn for the worst (not that I could see myself literally “playing” with these).

Still, I might have to muster up a spot for Vinz Clortho, the Keymaster of Gozer, a loyal minion demi-god who obeys The Destructor. In the 1984 Ghostbusters, Vinz possessed Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) and became one of the most beloved characters in the franchise (I would have loved his party!) This figure comes with an array of extras, including the dog head from the finale. Available in March.

Also available this March is “Marshmallow Mess Ray” who comes with a messy logo. In May you can snag “Egon with Lab Coat”, which appears to come with the library ghost! Lastly, in July Mattel releases “Winston with Slime Blower”.

I think the one thing that all of the toy companies are missing are toy “displays”. I’m not really looking to have Marshmallow Mess Ray and Vinz Clortho just handing out on my desk. I want a rooftop piece with a ginormous Stay Puft Marshmallow Man climbing up. NECA has the right idea with their Crow rooftop fight piece, and the Friday the 13th shrine set, but no toy company has really gone out of their way to create something spectacular (like a possessed Dana (with removable shirt) apartment set that comes with a demonic refrigerator).

Toy Fair ’11: Rick Grimes, More ‘Walking Dead’ Prototypes!

In one of the most creative action figure collaborations of 2011, McFarlane Toys has officially announced last week two separate deals concerning the licensing rights of The Walking Dead. The first is with AMC to create action figures based on the original series that premiered on the network in October of last year. The second is with Robert Kirkman to also create action figures based on the comic book series created by him!! This is the first time action figures have been produced, and both lines are available to retailers this fall.

A batch of new images were released that come out of the ongoing Toy Fair in New York.

Toy Fair ’11: AWESOME ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Trilogy Figs, ‘Walking Dead’ Busts

OMFG, OMFG!

Quickly turning their back on the 2010 remake, NECA has unveiled three brand new Freddy Krueger action figures based on the film’s initial trilogy! These badass A Nightmare on Elm Street toys bring us new Freddy’s from the title film, Freddy’s Revenge (sorry, no dead parakeet), and Dream Warriors. Each comes with an interchangeable head. But in all seriousness, who wouldn’t want the actual “Dream Warriors” in toy form? “Yo, Freddy! Where you hiding at, you burnt-faced pussy?” – Roland Kincaid

In addition, inside we threw up a quick look at NECA’s “The Walking Dead” busts. Eh, I’ll watch for McFarlane’s toy line based on Robert Kirkman’s comic.

Toy Fair ’11: ‘Gremlins 2,’ ‘Predators’ and ‘Terminator’!

While it appears NECA is continuing to shy away from horror lines based on specific franchises, they do have some really cool stuff in the pipeline.

Next to the new Freddy Krueger’s (images in next story), my favorite upcoming line is from Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Joe Dante’s 1990 sequel featuring all sorts of interesting and new characters from “Rambo Gizmo” to the “Brain Gremlin”, “Mohawk/Stripe”, “Spider Gremlin” and more!

NECA also unveiled some absolutely incredible figures based on both James Cameron’s 1984 The Terminator and the 1991 Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The highlight of the batch are the original “Terminator” toys as portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Freakin’ AWESOME.

Lastly, inside you’ll find images of even more Predator figures from this past summer’s Predators, along with the toy based on the alien hunter from Predator 2. I’m not exactly sure who keeps buying all these. Who has a wall full of like 3o Predator toys? The 40-year-old virgin maybe?

Toy Fair ’11: NECA’s Video Game Figs ‘Gears of War,’ ‘Bioshock’ & ‘Duke Nukem’

While the New York Toy Fair kicked off yesterday, this morning the first images that we (horror fiends) care about began to appear.

Kicking off our sure to be overloaded coverage are your first looks at NECA’s upcoming video game toy lines.

First and probably the coolest is “Duke Nukem” figure based on the forthcoming highly anticipated “Duke Nukem Forever,” in stores May 3.

Then there’s a look at four new toys from the ever-so-awesome “Bioshock 2″ featuring a new “Big Daddy” and a “Brute Slicer.”

Lastly, expect a whopping 8 figures from Microsoft Games Studios “Gears of War 3″, in stores this fall (when the game is also released).
