FX’s “The Strain” is one of those shows that would lend itself to an interesting array of potential video game genres. Wanna do an action FPS? Makes sense. Some kind of deck building board game? I could see that. Or how about a full on old-school fighter, a lá Mortal Kombat? Yeah, that could work!
Actually, that’s exactly what FX did with a new little video that shows off “The Strain” as though it were a sideview 16-bit fighter and it’s actually really charming. The video shows Fet versus a Strigoi and even has a finishing move with a Ninja Gaiden-esque banner quickly tossed in.
It’s not real and it’s not ever going to be released (at least, not that I know of) but I know I’d play the shit out of this game, even though I suck at fighters. Button mashing, here I come!
