“Stranger Things” Season 2 Officially Kicks Off Production
If you’re ready to venture once again into the Upside-Down, get ready as Netflix has officially commenced production on the second season of their supernatural mystery show “Stranger Things“!
A photo confirming this information came form the show’s official Twitter account, which shows the main cast of children doing a table reading, as well as showing Sadie Sink, who joins the team. The tweet also contained the message, “back in production, see you next year, #strangerthings“. The interesting thing about this message and the picture wasn’t just that they were upside down (a nod to the other dimension from the show) but also that several letters were darker than others. Specifically, those letters are “a, c, k, r, t, y, t, y, a r, t, r, a, g, r, t, h, g“.
Now, either there’s a hidden message in those letters OR when letters appear upside down on Twitter, some look darker than others. I’m willing to bet it’s the latter, so no need to dig where you shouldn’t.
Speaking recently with io9, producer Shawn Levy explained, “We don’t live under a rock. We really want to satisfy expectations and affections of our fans, but that’s not to say we’re going to cater to everything people want. At the end of the day, we are going to rely, as we did in season one, on the core instincts of the [Duffer] brothers.”
Alright, who’s hyped by this news because I know I am!

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
