If Nancy doesn’t wake up screaming…
The first season of “Stranger Things,“ in addition to being its own beautiful thing, sure did remind of a lot of beloved ’80s films, huh? From Steven Spielberg to Stephen King, the series has been absolutely loaded with fun homages and Easter eggs, and one horror film that undoubtedly was a huge inspiration was A Nightmare on Elm Street.
When the Demogorgon emerged from a wall, for starters, it reminded of Freddy’s entrance above Nancy’s bed in Wes Craven’s horror classic. And wouldn’t ya know it, the teenage heroine in “Stranger Things” not only reminds of Nancy Thompson, but her name is even Nancy!
That connection is played up perfectly in a new poster that the official “Stranger Things” Twitter account just shared. It literally recreates the iconic original poster for A Nightmare on Elm Street, right down to the font, with the Demogorgon’s hand replacing Freddy’s glove and looming over the show’s Nancy.
Given the Season 1 inspiration, we can only assume this isn’t an official poster for “Stranger Things” Season 2, but it’s awesome whether fan-made or otherwise!
The second season of “Stranger Things” hits Netflix on October 27.
