If “The Exorcist” is next, we riot.
It’s been almost two years since the second season of the M. Night Shyamalan-produced “Wayward Pines” came to a close, leading us to wonder if FOX had lost faith in a series that many didn’t even think would make it to a second season. As of last summer, FOX still hadn’t made a decision, but now they’ve sadly decided to get off the pot.
Variety reports tonight that FOX has cancelled “Wayward Pines” after two seasons.
“Shyamalan directed the pilot and shepherded the series with original showrunner Chad Hodge about a Secret Service agent who discovers strange happenings in a small Idaho town,” Variety notes. “Stranger Things creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer worked on the first season of the show as co-exec producers.”
A total of 20 episodes aired across the show’s two seasons.
