M. Night Shyamalan and Apple Team On a Psychological Thriller Series

Published

on

Writer/director/producer M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN returns to the captivating grip of ”The Sixth Sense,” “Unbreakable,” and ”Signs” with ”Split,” an original film that delves into the mysterious recesses of one man’s (JAMES MCAVOY) fractured, gifted mind.

Variety breaks some pretty huge news this morning as they report that Apple has given a straight-to-series order to a psychological thriller series from “Outcast” writer Tony Basgallop that M. Night Shyamalan will executive produce.  The half-hour series has received a 10-episode order, with Shyamalan also set to direct the first episode.

Plot details for the series are being kept under wraps, but the announcement comes on the heels of Shyamalan’s “Wayward Pines” being canceled this morning by Fox.

The series will be produced by Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures with Ashwin Rajan serving as executive producer. Jason Blumenthal, Todd Black and Steve Tisch of Escape Artists will also executive produce, with Taylor Latham co-executive producing.

Shyalaman most recently wrote, produced, and directed the hit film Split and is preparing the sequel Glass, both of which tie into his 2000 film Unbreakable. He is also behind blockbusters like The Sixth Sense and Signs.

“Chucky” – Official Trailer for This Week’s New Episode Brings Brad Dourif into the White House!

Just two episodes remain in Season 3 of “Chucky,” with the second-to-last episode airing this Wednesday night on USA & SYFY. It’s titled “There Will Be Blood,” and oh yes there will be.

Last week’s episode was absolutely INSANE, with Chucky taking control of the situation room in the White House and attempting to start World War 3. His plan was thwarted, but not before nuking the North Pole. In the wake of launching that missile, Chucky met the true death, his doll body disintegrating into ash like he got Thanos snapped out of existence.

The episode ended with an appearance from Brad Dourif as Charles Lee Ray in his human form, with his spirit now free from the doll and roaming around the haunted White House.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for this week’s episode: “Parapsychologists investigate the disturbances in the White House, while Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) plans her escape.”

“There Will Be Blood” airs Wednesday, April 24 on USA and SYFY. Reversing a new plan they tested out last week, we’re told the episode will be available on Peacock this Thursday.
