New Trailer for Hulu’s “Castle Rock” Highlights Bill Skarsgård and Connects to ‘IT’ and ‘Cujo’
Hulu’s J.J. Abrams-produced “Castle Rock,“ which is set to dive deep into the Stephen King multiverse and bring together many of King’s stories for one epic saga, is premiering on Wednesday, July 25 with the series’ first three episodes, and Hulu is serving up a brand new trailer today that’s full of references to King’s classic tales.
Much of the trailer focuses on IT star Bill Skarsgård, who will be playing an inmate at Shawshank. You’ll spot nods to Cujo, IT, and other King stories that featured the fictional town he created. This looks to be a big time treat for all mega fans of King’s work, to say the least.
“Castle Rock is this town that [King] made famous in all these different books; and these two writers, Dustin Thomason and Sam Shaw, came up with this incredibly cool, terrifying, weird, funny idea of a series, new story, that takes place in this town,” Abrams recently told Jimmy Fallon. “And all of these characters from Stephen King’s books sort of are peripherally involved. We pitched it to Stephen King. He went nuts for it.”
From Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television, “Castle Rock” is named after the fictional town in King’s native Maine that is featured prominently in a number of his novels, novellas and short stories. Per the producers, it combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.
Castle Rock first appeared in King’s 1979 novel “The Dead Zone”, and has reappeared as late as his 2013 novel “Doctor Sleep” and 2014’s“Revival”. The name is taken from the fictional mountain fort of the same name in William Golding’s 1954 novel “Lord of the Flies”. “Cujo”, “The Dark Half” and “Needful Things” were set in Castle Rock, while “Creepshow”, “The Stand”, “Sleepwalkers”, “Gerald’s Game” and “IT” reference the town.
The cast includes Bill Skarsgård, Sissy Spacek, Allison Tolman, Scott Glenn, André Holland, Terry O’Quinn and Jane Levy.
Netflix announced today that the fan-favorite series “Devil May Cry” has been renewed for a third and final season following the recent debut of season two.
Created by “Castlevania” showrunner Adi Shankar, the animated adaptation of the popular Capcom game introduces a world where sinister forces seek to open a portal between the human and demon realms.
Caught in the middle is orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire Dante, unaware that the fate of the balance falls to him.
Across its two seasons, the series has appeared on the Netflix Global Top 10 for four weeks, with season one accumulating 21.7M views in 2025, and season two already off to a strong start, accumulating 6.4M views in just two weeks. All of which to say that the rapid renewal for the third and final season doesn’t come as a surprise.
“For those of you who have been paying attention to the episode names, I have been showing you the structure the entire time. This was always Dante’s Divine Comedy with guns and a red coat. Season 1 was Inferno. Season 2 was Purgatorio. Season 3 will be Paradiso. These three seasons make up ‘The Force Edge Saga.‘ Since its inception, ‘The Force Edge Saga‘ was designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a television series,” Shankar said of the announcement.
The voice cast for “Devil May Cry” Season 2 is led by Johnny Yong Bosch (“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”) as Dante, Robbie Daymond (“Critical Role”) as Vergil, and Scout Taylor-Compton (Rob Zombie’s Halloween) as Lady.
Daniel Kurland wrote in his second season review for BD, “Winning chemistry between Dante and Vergil, as well as a narrative that isn’t afraid to put other characters in the spotlight, helps this season overcome some of the past season’s hurdles. This is a tight, economical season that doesn’t overstay its welcome, but part of the charm and impact is weakened the second time around. “
Created by Hideki Kamiya, the first Devil May Cry game was released in 2001. There are now five main games in addition to several reboots, spin-offs, special editions, and mobile games.
