Next ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ Update Makes Jason Scarier & Deadlier

Published

on

The developers of Friday the 13th: The Game are always listening to players and tweaking/adding/removing things at their request, and the latest patch update will primarily focus on something many have been requesting: making Jason scarier.

A post from Gun Media over on the game’s official forum provides details tonight…

We’ve seen your reports; our Jason characters aren’t scary. We’ve seen the videos of counselors running circles around Jason and smacking him upside the head, repeatedly, while he quietly resigns himself to his fate. We’ve even seen videos of Jason being forced to run away while being chased by 4 Chads with baseball bats.

That’s not cool, and Chad is a dick.

As such, we will be implementing the following changes to Jason characters.

  • Each Jason will be gaining a small speed increase – this is not so fast as to make it impossible for counselors to escape from a Jason player, but it is enough to make Jason feel more relentless.
  • Each Jason will start with 2 additional throwing knives.
  • Jason’s grab reach and radius have been looked at and reworked – this should help alleviate the issues players are reporting of counselors slipping through Jason’s fingers, while still retaining a fair grab range for counselor players.

We feel that these changes will do quite a bit to bring a proper balance to the game.”

At earliest, the new patch will arrive next week. The developers have also teased that other updates will come along with it, but those haven’t yet been detailed.

“Blood in the Water” Update Brings New Content and Difficulty Settings to ‘Barotrauma’

Published

on

FakeFish and Undertow Games have given veteran Barotrauma players a run for their money with the new “Blood in the Water” update. Available now, the update brings with it a new difficulty settings, alongside new content and customization options for the underwater co-op title.

For starters, Blood in the Water adds two new monsters to Barotrauma—the Viperling and a new Spineling variant—which employ poison attacks. Not only that, but the devs have brought back the cave-dwelling Mantis, a monster that used to exist in early Barotrauma builds. Existing monsters have also been tweaked, with Abyss monsters now better at targeting characters inside the submarine for added danger.

New campaign difficulty settings have also been added, with the ability to adjust the campaign difficulty to your liking using one of four presets, or by fine-tuning various parameters yourself. There have also been improvements to the respawning system in multiplayer, which involves the removal of the Reaper’s Tax and replacing it with customizable respawning skill loss penalty. New wrecks and beacon stations have also been added, as well as a new kind of wreck mission.

Other changes with the update include a rebalancing of the diving suits for clearer use cases, as well as reducing the flooding speed to give players more time to react during a hull breach. This is in addition to the various other tweaks to animations and station events.

Barotrauma is available now in full after exiting from Early Access last year.
