V/H/S Viral VHS Viral

This shit’s gonna go viral.

Ahead of the Cannes market Epic Pictures Group shared with Deadline the international trailer and sales art for V/H/S Viral, which will complete our V/H/S trilogy. It was also announced via TheWrap that we sold the film to Magnolia Pictures to release through their Magnet genre label.

The new tape features segments directed by Marcel Sarmiento (Deadgirl, the incredible The ABCs of Death segment “D Is for Dogfight”), Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Extraterrestrial), Gregg Bishop (The Other Side, Dance of the Dead), as well as Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Resolution, Spring).

“V/H/S Viral focuses on fame-obsessed teens who unwittingly become stars of the next internet sensation.

Justin Welborn and Emmy Argo are among the cast.

Marcel Sarmiento, TJ Cimfel, Dave White, Gregg Bishop, Nacho Vigalondo, Justin Benson, Aaron Moorehead and Lincoln wrote the screenplays.

Check out the trailer below, which integrates footage from the first two films, as well as the sales art.

I don’t want to read “Complete” in this post. Please never stop making these. I’m looking forward to another “VHS” anthology next year. You hear me!? :)

    • Pekka Kakarot

      Just as you say!

  • Scavenger of Human Sorrow

The first movie was great, but the name/idea at this stage is feeling a bit jaded/milked. Just being honest.

While I like the list of directors, this one just doesn’t grab my attention like the last two trailers did. The first one started and ended with solid shorts. The second one had safe haven and the alien one which were both good (the first two were kinda limp) so I’m hesitant about a 3rd one. That said, I do hope I am surprised!

That trailer looks awesome! I thought the second one was a significant improvement over the first one (I liked the Ti West Segment and the final segment alright but there was just too many douchey frat-boy male characters for me to be care about any of the characters in the other segments) so I hope this one is at least just as good!

hell yea this is amazing, ive always love horror movies and the found footage genre has a place in my heart there are alot of crappy ones but i feel when done right it can be really creepy and or fun, ive liked it so much that ive even worked on my own short web series found footage style.

First movie was mostly good, hated the 2nd entirely. Hope this is better.

  • Kota Lancaster

Any idea when we might be seeing it? I’m completely stoked to.

  • Scherezada Curiel

I hated the first one, however I really liked the second one…this one sounds about right! Cant wait!

  • Chamber

That was actually really well done. I have liked the overall quality of both films, but this one seems to really bring the A game. Hopefully, the end result will deliver.

You have an amazing series with VHS, this third one looks GREAT. Personally, I can’t wait to watch that Magician based episode, that looks *amazing*. I can’t wait to see him kill with magic.

But seriously, don’t stop with VHS:Viral, keep going, there’s more possibilities… so many more. To stop at 3, I get the ‘not beating a dead horse’ idea and I applaud you for having dignity in your product, but just retool it then, bring us ANOTHER anthology series wrapped around another situation! Campfire tales? Email chains? Youtube videos someone finds online and keeps watching (ok thats too similair, but still…)

  • Phil Hunter

Please make this an ongoing thing. It’s such a good way to give newer film-makers exposure alongside established names.

  • Roberto Rojas Balarezo

these´v/h/s/ movies have been a pleasure to watch, i second the idea of ongoing releases providing they keep the quality this high

  • Greg Etheus

Please keep making more, just as long as you have some amazing ideas and don’t get lazy with it lol. I LOVED the first V/H/S and the second one was pretty good as well. The trailer for the 3rd looks amazing! I love the idea of (from what I can tell) a magician killing people. Looks creepy as all hell. I hope this is getting released on VHS as well because I own the VHS copy for the first two films :)

  • JoeInTheBox

If you guys don’t get it out before October, please premiere it at Fantastic Fest. Also, I would not mind this as a tv show on a premium cable network. It’s the perfect premise for it.

  • Jim

Please….make more…don’t stop this awesome chaos.

  • dman99999

i dont know how any horror fans could hate safe haven and the zombie mountain bike cam those were awesome the other 2 ehh

  • Alanmac

Omg I can NOT wait for this.

  • Ress EZ

Wow! The third is coming already? It’s the last in the series?? Surely this project has been the proudest thing B-D ever worked on. A pity this one is the end. Praises and critics aside, I take this opportunity to commend on your effort for giving us, the horror fans, more anthology goodness!

    • fuckyocouchzz14

It better not end!!! This is what the After Dark Horrorfest series WAS SUPPOSED TO BE!!! It’s a way for up-and-coming horror movie artist to show off, as well as a venue to EXPERIMENT. That’s something the movie industry is in desperate need of. I would warmly welcome yearly VHS, or even Spin-Off non-vhs style (found footage) movies, as long as they keep Trying New Things!!! I’m so tired of watching the same zombie, ghost, and possession movies over, and over that Hollywood keeps spitting out.

      LONG LIVE VHS

      • Ress EZ

“It’s a way for up-and-coming horror movie artist to show off.” I definitely like your idea! If I were the producers, I will not hesitate to welcome more new talents to the V/H/S family. At least reserve a slot for them. Just like Radio Silence got their breakthrough with ’10/31/98′ in the first V/H/S. The selection of Resolution’s directors for this one is a good example.

  • Jonathan.Dreadful

Really liked the first two, particularly Safe Haven in V/H/S 2 which is one of my favorite short films I’ve seen in a long time. Looking forward to this one. Trailer doesn’t reveal too much but I want to go into this one as blind as possible.

  • Lana Del Gay

First was okay, second was brilliant. I hope Viral follows the trend/pattern and is amazing.

  • fuckyocouchzz14

The great thing about the series is no one can agree on which segments were great, and which ones sucked!!!!!

This means the VHS movies are varied enough to reach a large demographic of horror fans.

    • Kirkio

Haha, very true. A lot of people tell me that Second Honeymoon from the first film is terrible but I loved it, the shock at the end was so unexpected at the first time watching it.

I’d love to meet someone with any taste in film whatsoever that can convince me that Tuesday the 17th is worth watching again though. I can’t stand that segment, it really let the film down for me. It was totally nonsensical and depended way too much on crappy digital effects. Oh yeah, and the acting! “You’re all going to die here”… ‘scuse me, the University of Ball Bustingly Terrible Horror Clichés just called, they want their lines back. Ta.

Like the look of the new trailer though, I’m really curious about the skull mask wraith type thing. That’s the best thing about V/H/S trailers, there’s so much going on in such a small time you have a lot to get thinking about.
