Second ‘Terminator Genisys’ Trailer Focuses On John Connor’s Doomsday!

Terminator Genisys

A second, full trailer has just been released for Terminator Genisys, in theaters July 1, 2015. In it, there’s a focus on story, where we see a young John Connor being told of his responsibility before it segues into the future war between man and machine. There’s a bit of exposition explaining what we already know (for the younger generation), which makes me wonder if they’ll address the paradox of sending back humans and terminators infinitely. Still, I’m getting all nostalgic watching it, and all the clever references to the previous Terminator films. Oh, and you get to see the T-800 smile…

In addition, Arnold Schwarzenegger tweeted out a badass new photo of himself from the film, directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: Dark World).

When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline. Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future…

The screenplay is by Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar) & Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). The film also stars J. K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Matt Smith, Courtney B. Vance and Byung-Hun Lee.

    Quite the spoiler there…

    WTF!?!?!

HUGE SPOILERS in that trailer…. Wow – an entire great storyline that I had absolutely no idea about after seeing previous trailer, clips etc and interviews and they just put it all out there in another trailer? That totally sucks… Would have been so great to have not known about the whole…. I won’t even say it in case someone wants to skip the trailer and not have it ruined for them….

I know, i only watched this trailer because i don’t have much faith in the film itself. Otherwise based on the comments, i would have skipped it. T5 might be slightly better then T3, hopefully.

    Wha?!
    NOW I’m interested!

  • Grimphantom

Well it explains why they are going to make a new trilogy over this tho makes you wonder how the hell they did that to the character.

  • Stephen Miller

This trailer had so much spoilers that it basically gave you the whole movie. Thanks for saving me the money.

Oh John Connor turned into Silver Surfer…great story twist!

At least we know this is a re-imagining of the first 2 films rather then a straight sequel. It doesn’t look as bad as the first trailer either. It would have been cool to see some more of the original cast though. One negative thing i will say, it doesn’t look as thrilling as the first 2 films. It seems to be wall to wall action rather then a mix.

  • Actually, I don’t really consider this much of spoiler. But since the lot of you do, I’ll keep it vague for those who have yet to see the trailer and say this. We already seen the T-1000 do this in T2 followed by the TX in T3.
On a side note, I’m happy that the design of the T-1000 here is based of the TX. The design in T2 makes no sense and I’m surprised that no one ever questioned it.

I have no problem with spoilers. That whole twist gimmick died along with M Night Shyamalan’s career. At least, for me. The only quibble I have is how in the heck does Sarah know what an adult John Connor would look like?

Other than that, I’ll watch this purely for the Khaleesi and Byung-hun Lee. If the filmmakers had somehow inserted Summer Glau as a Terminator into the movie, I’d be at the premiere with bells on.

    • Your question is based on a single out of context scene. Ask it again once you see the full film.

That’s wishful thinking but yes Summer Glau reprising her role as the Terminator would be cool.

This looks awful. The CGI in particular looks terrible. I fully expect to pass on this reboot attempt as I did the Christian bale one.

  • Not entirely sure how to feel about this. The twist is interesting, and Emiliar Clarke is a spot on choice for SC but the new Terminator looks is just meh. Nothing really awesome as T-1000. Having said that, the action looks solid, if only they did not cast Jay Courtney. The guy is a hack
