Geek Outside perfectly spoofed Gore Verbinski’s The Ring, which updates the technology and takes a jab at our addiction to screens in less than a minute.
The Ring, the 2002 remake of the 1999 J-horror Ringu, is about a VHS tape infected with the spirit of Samara. When viewed, the person has seven days to pass the infection on…or they’ll meet their demise.
The joke here is that with Vine, the viewer now has seven seconds.
I find this quite clever, funny and the perfect length for my short attention span. Talk about timing, too, with Rings set to hit theaters later this year.
