I’ve written about Chelsea Wolfe before on BD. Her music and aesthetic are absolutely perfect for the site, her blend of doom and goth-influenced singer/songwriter tunes a dark bliss. And with her newest track “Hypnos”, I’ve only fallen even more under her spell.
The track, which comes from the upcoming Hypnos/Flame 7” (out April 1st via Sargent House), is haunting and absolutely sublime. Wolfe’s voice, as always, seems to hover angelically over the melancholia that pervades the music while an acoustic guitar plays sparsely, allowing the emptiness between the ringing notes to speak as much as the strings do.
Just as the music sounds like something out of a dream, the video also flickers, blurs, and glitches, creating a disjointed yet fully appropriate experience.
