When we headed into the theater to see 10 Cloverfield Lane back in 2016, none of us had any idea what to expect. What we got was a contained thriller starring John Goodman in a nuanced role that should’ve nabbed him an Academy Award nom – one that then become a bonkers, alien monsters-invade-the-Earth movie in the final act.
Leading to much confusion, the aforementioned alien monsters in 10 Cloverfield Lane looked absolutely nothing like the monster associated with the Cloverfield name, which begged the question of how the hell the two films really even connected. We only learned this year, thanks to The Cloverfield Paradox, how the two movies (kinda sorta) connect.
But still, how cool would it have been if the monster from 2008’s Cloverfield actually appeared in 10 Cloverfield Lane? Thanks to this fan edit, now he/she(?) does!
“I know this would not really work with how the rest of the movie is setup, but going into the theater to see 10 Cloverfield Lane for the first time, I hoped there would be a solid connection to the original Cloverfield,” explains the video’s creator. “I still love the movie and think real ending works. This was just done as a fun project by a fan, for fans.”
Prepare for all the happy chills…
