’90s Animated Series “Gargoyles” Gets a Must Watch Fan Film
“They see the good in us. It may be time we see the good in them.”
Rarely are fan films very impressive, but every once in a while you get a gem like Mortal Kombat: Rebirth or Never Hike Alone. Speaking of gems, Carlos Ferrer just directed, edited and animated his own take on “Gargoyles,“ the animated series from Walt Disney Television that aired from 1994 to 1997. And it’s the dark, gritty reboot you didn’t know you needed.
Though much of the 4-minute fan film is animated, Ferrer’s hope is to convince Disney that he’s the right man to make a full on, live-action version of the animated series.
“I need as many views as possible to convince producers and execs that my vision of a live action Gargoyles film will work for audiences and fans,” Ferrer says. “It’s a rich story with a great message – a fantasy set in the real world and with today’s technology it could be fantastic. I grew up with this so I feel like I really know what has to be done. So it’s really about getting as much exposure as possible with the fans and others who may not know about the show.”
If you loved “Gargoyles” back in the ’90s, you need to check this fan film out!
“Gargoyles” centered on a species of nocturnal creatures known as gargoyles that turn to stone during the day. After spending a thousand years in an enchantedly petrified state, the gargoyles (who have been transported from medieval Scotland) are reawakened in modern-day New York City, and take on roles as the city’s secret night-time protectors.
