Red Band ‘The Happytime Murders’ Trailer Shoots a Load of NSFW Laughs

Published

on

The long-gestured, rated-R horror-comedy The Happytime Murders received quite a bit of hype out of the Las Vegas CinemaCon. After the trailer premiered, critics tweeted out rave reviews, declaring it an “instant cult classic,” and promising a slew of vulgarities and sexual situations. It’s the adult-themed puppet film we’ve been begging for since Peter Jackson corrupted our minds with his Meet the Feebles way back in 1989.

Digressing, STX shared with us the red band Happytime trailer and it’s pretty wild, although I wouldn’t go so far as to call it an “instant cult classic.” There’s a ton of drugs and violence, and there’s even an insane sex scene that ends with a puppet shooting his string all over an office. This looks like the kind of film that will be a ton of fun in a packed theater. What do you think?

The comedy is set in the underbelly of a Los Angeles where puppets and humans co-exist. Two clashing detectives, one human (Melissa McCarthy) and one puppet, are forced to work together to figure out who is brutally murdering the former cast of The Happytime Gang, a beloved classic puppet show.

I know this may be unpopular opinion, especially here on Bloody, but I am starting to like McCarthy; she won me over in The Spy and was also solid in the Ghostbusters redo.  The film also stars Elizabeth BanksMelissa McCarthyJoel McHale and Maya Rudolph, with Mitch Silpa (Bridesmaids) and Ryan Gaul (Identity Thief).

The movie has an August 24, 2018 release date.

Brian Henson directs the comedy in conjunction with Jim Henson Company’s Henson Alternative banner.

As someone who is obsessed with UFOS (or more recently known as UAPs) and the concept of extraterrestrials, I love a good documentary. Sightings have been on the rise since the 1940s, with the atomic bomb seemingly acting as a catalyst for new visitors. But what are these UFOs/UAPs? Is there an explanation or are they simply beyond our explanation? Why are they here? Who are they? How much do our governments know? The questions are endless and so are the documentaries that attempt to uncover the secrets behind decades of sightings and alleged confrontations.

Whether you’re a seasoned viewer or new to the rabbit hole, there’s always a handful of interesting documentaries to get your neurons firing and leave you with sleepless nights. SCREAMBOX is investigating with the addition of several docs, all streaming now on the Bloody Disgusting-powered service. Here’s the breakdown:

Aliens Uncovered: The Golden Record (2023): In the late 70s, the US government launched a message to our distant neighbors.

Roswell (2021): This high-flying documentary examines the July 1947 crash of a United States Army Air Forces balloon at a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. Theories claim the crash was actually that of a flying saucer, but what is the truth?
