‘Dune: Spice Wars’ Leaves Early Access on September 14th

Published

on

It’ll be a while before we get the next installment of Dune in theatres, but in the meantime, Shiro Games will have Dune: Spice Wars to help ease the pain of waiting. The “ultimate Arrakis 4X strategy experience” will be leaving Early Access on Steam on September 14th, bringing with it the game’s sixth major content update, and introducing the opulent and politically sharp House Ecaz.

Describing House Ecaz in painting terms, the new faction wields power like a paint brush, rapidly expanding its influence across the hostile canvas of Arrakis. The prestige of their artworks grants them unique power over the Landsraad, letting them stand toe-to-toe with even the Atreides in terms of political clout.

Continuing the tradition of strategy games inspired on Frank Herbert‘s sci-fi masterpiece, Dune: Spice Wars is a grand strategy 4X game played in real-time, with countless paths to planetary domination and control over the spice. In solo or multiplayer, gain the upper hand through any combination of intrigue, warfare, politics, industry, and subterfuge.

The epic scope of the books, Machiavellian plotting, and brutal backstabbing aim to be replicated through every facet of Spice Wars‘ gameplay. Dune: Spice Wars also strives to be easily accessible, while also being “easy to learn, tough to master” through its array of systems and mechanics.

Meanwhile, Dune: Part Two, directed by Denis Villeneuve, will arrive in theatres on March 15, 2024.
