Julie coming-of-age slasher

Horror veterans Kane Hodder (Hatchet, Jason X) and J. LaRose (Saw III, Insidious) have joined coming-of-age slasher Julie, the co-directing feature debut of longtime producer and editor Quinton Macari III and writer/horror historian Nathaniel Brehmer.

DMG Studios and 913 Productions have also announced lead cast members Haley Gosserand (“Building the Band,” Pretty Hurts), Chloë Marie Rhoades (Caroltyn), and Triston Dye (“Fear the Walking Dead,” “Ironheart”).

The slasher film follows “a teenage girl, Julie (Gosserand), as she struggles to balance her high school relationship with Michael (Dye), with a burgeoning inner darkness. When a budding romance offers her a glimpse of a normal life, she is forced to make a profound and terrifying choice: embrace the life she has always wanted or give in to the darker nature she was born to possess.”

Puppet Master Complete: A Franchise History author and Bloody Disgusting contributor Nat Brehmer steps into the writer/director role with Julie

“This film is my dream project, and I’m looking forward to audiences enjoying this delightfully chaotic, charismatic, and utterly watchable killer on the screen. ‘JULIE’ is about a girl who realizes she’s the worst person in the world, and it’s the best thing that ever happened to her. This is as much a high school movie as it is a horror movie, as vulnerable and funny as it is mean and nasty. An earnest depiction of a slasher’s journey toward self-acceptance.”

“To me, ‘JULIE’ is what the horror genre is craving. After nearly two decades in the film and TV industry, it is an absolute honor to make my directing debut alongside Nat as we tell his story. I cannot wait to unleash “JULIE” into the world,” said Co-Director Quinton Macari III, who previously wrote and produced “A Time for Every Purpose” and led post-production on “The Heart Brake.”

“Working on Julie was an absolute pleasure. From the directors to all of the crew, and especially the other actors, it was something I’ll always remember. Excited to see the audience reaction. I’m very proud to have been a part of Julie,” Kane Hodder stated.

J. LaRose added, ““Shoot went great…as typical with any shoot, time was precious, but the awesome crew kept things moving. I really enjoyed working with the young actors…a talented group…and I could feed off of their youthful energy.”

“It’s rare to find a story that is as entertaining as it is a powerful lens on modern self-discovery,” says Executive Producer Sonya Montgomery. “I look for projects with bold vision and undeniable impact, and “JULIE” is exactly that. Quinton and Nat have tapped into something truly special, and I’m excited to see this film’s journey on the screen.”

The film is produced by Kristin Macari and Chuck Fusca. General Counsel for DMG is Gabriella B. Guariniello. Scott M. Goldberg represents 913. Haley Gosserand is repped by Aris Golemi of Agent of XCELtalent. Chloë Marie Rhoades is repped by Kelly Paige at Level Talent Group. Triston Dye is repped by Susan Tolar Walters of STW Talent Agency, J. LaRose is repped by Richard Kerner of Kerner Management Associates. Kane Hodder is repped by Judy Fox, Personal Talent Management.

Stay tuned for additional details on Julie as they arrive.
