Published

Xie Miao (The New Legend of Shaolin) and Joe Taslim (Mortal Kombat) take on a sledgehammer-wielding Brian Le (Everything Everywhere All at Once) with their bear hands in our exclusive fight clip from The Furious.

The violent martial arts revenge thriller opens in theaters on June 12 via Lionsgate.

In the film, After the daughter of Wang Wei (Xie) is kidnapped by a criminal network and he receives no help from the corrupt police, Wei sets out on a rampage to find her himself. His only ally is Navin (Taslim), a relentless journalist whose wife has mysteriously disappeared.

Fueled by a furious vengeance, the unlikely duo ruthlessly fights against the kidnappers in this explosive martial arts showdown.

Kenji Tanigaki (Enter the Fat Dragon) directs from a script by Mak Tin Shu (Kung Fu Jungle), Lei Zhilong, Shum Kwan Sin (Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In), and Frank Hui.

Yang Enyou, Joey Iwanaga, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Manatsanun Phanlerdwongsakul, Guo Junqing, Winai Wiangyangkung, Yayan Ruhian, and Jija Yanin round out the cast.

Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Shan Tam (Rumble in the Bronx), and Hui produce. Executive producers include Tianfu Xu, Nate Bolotin, Todd Brown, Maxime Cottray, Nick Spicer, Aram Tertzakian, and Michael J. Werner.

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and went on to play Sitges, Beyond Fest, Red Sea Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, and Overlook Film Festival, among others.

I wrote in my review, “The Furious is 112 minutes of wall-to-wall, hard-hitting, martial arts action. It may not be quite as expertly crafted as The Raid or as hyper-violent as The Night Comes For Us, but in a post-Epstein world, it’s incredibly satisfying to watch child traffickers get their comeuppance.

The Furious is rated R for “strong bloody violence and language.”

The next shark attack horror movie swimming our way this Summer is The Bay from Brainstorm Media, and Bloody Disgusting is exclusively debuting the official trailer today.

Francesca Eastwood (M.F.A., Clawfoot) stars in The Bay, which will notably feature an animatronic shark that’s been created by SFX and animatronics company Bischoff’s.

In writer/director Phil Volken’s The Bay, “When their tour boat sinks in a shark sanctuary, two best friends must fight for survival to escape the shark-infested waters.”

The film will be opening in theaters and on demand on July 17, 2026.

Watch the official trailer for The Bay down below.

Alexander Wraith, Dani Oliveros, and Ta’imua also star.

Phil Volken said in a statement, “I’ve made several films set on the open sea, and The Bay is the culmination of my experiences to date – with my crack team of regular collaborators, the movie is finely and expertly honed to maximize the combined fears of the ocean, the unknown, sharks and ultimately, just how cold-blooded nature can be – specifically human nature.”

“I’m delighted with the scale and performances we’ve delivered onscreen,” Volken continues. “The Bay’s going to completely immerse and terrify audiences worldwide!”

Phil Volken has indeed carved out a niche directing open sea-based movies over the years, including the thriller Extortion back in 2017 and the horror movie Dead Sea just last year.
