Developer Zeitgeist Studio and publisher HYPER REAL have released a new cinematic trailer for their long-in-development cult horror title, NAME OF THE WILL. And if you haven’t already, you can check out the demo, which covers the first chapter of the game.
Of course, if you’re attending Gamescom, you can get a hands-on preview of the game at the Indie Arena Booth, Hall 10.2, Booth F010 E019, which features never-before-seen content.
NAME OF THE WILL casts players as Neighbor 3279, a member of HOPE, which is a group led by someone known as the Benevolent Father. Modern society offers an archaic approach to emotional trauma, but with the Benevolent Father and his teachings, you can shirk distress. Negative thoughts no longer hold you down. Physical pain becomes a blessing, and death becomes the highest honor one can achieve.
Embed within HOPE’s 34-story Reformation facility, and hide every emotion behind an ever-smiling mask. Mind each word and deed to survive thrive in seven days of indoctrination introduction alongside fellow followers.
Falling out of line could prove fatal, but don’t worry! Fellow followers keep each other accountable along the path to enlightenment. During the day, follow every rule and adhere to HOPE’s transformative behavioral codes: attend education courses, cooperate during “questionnaires”, and vote on Star of the Day – a lucky individual handpicked to “receive special blessings.”
At night, you’ll sneak into hidden Backstage areas throughout HOPE’s haunted halls. There you’ll uncover sordid secrets about the cult’s origins, all while avoiding the Benevolent Father who roams the halls. Befriend fellow skeptics, collect diary entries revealing the mystery behind Neighbor 3279’s arrival, and discover the truth behind HOPE’s existence.
